snirpa: agreed
for me the biggest issue is the aspect ratio.
I'm not playing on a retina screen just 1440x900 - but that is not the native 4:3 resolution, in which the game was made.
I don't mind black bars on the side. I hope this gets fixed or some clever soul comes up with a workaround.
Just install the Syberia Windows version in a CrossOver or Wineskin wrapper. Get the free PortingKit app by PaulTheTall, search for Syberia and be done with it. Enjoy!

jigglywiggly: Unfortunately I don't know if these issues are within GOG's power to fix...this version is the same Mac native version sold on the App Store. On the one hand, it is Mac native so it runs smoother and with less CPU than an emulated version. But on the other hand, it is frankly a relatively poor port from Microids themselves...it was primarily ported for the IOS platform, and then just kludged to work on OS X. You will notice some odd interface behavior like when trying to browse the "bonus" section...that is from the port being fundamentally for a touch interface.
This may not help much but in case you have not noticed/tried this yet, try looking in the Help/Options menu and then in the top left corner, click the button to change the aspect ratio. That may help a bit with your stretched view issue.
Kaoslabs' Mac port of Syberia 2 has the right 4:3 aspect ratio and fixed the control issues. To cut them some slack: The iOS and Mac version features higher resolution character models than the Windows original and they cleaned some of the background images.
