TL;DR: ALWAYS CARRY AN ENGINE IN INVENTORY!
_______
I've made it to Sublevel 4 [of 5] and have the Railgun, a rather good one at that, and had a Ton of Fun despite all of this.
Alright, so here we go:
1) Movement is too harsh for accurate Aiming.
This is more like a Feature that's missing, namely the Sensitivity / Deadzone Setting for the Controller. As it is, you NEED that Autocannon to be able to hit Enemies and survive, so don't unequip it, EVER. One of those two Slots will need to be the AC, because it's Autoaiming to a certain Degree, unlike any other Weapon I've encountered so far. Using a Flamethrower instead may be okay as well, though you need to be almost within Melee Range for that to hit, so the AC's still the Ultima as long as you can't finetune your Movements. As it is, the Crosshairs either overshoot the Enemy or don't quite reach far enough, and they're constantly moving as well, so you can't just stop and aim for 5 Minutes with extremely tiny and slow Movements, they'll be gone by then. Sensitivity / Deadzone Setting for the Controller would help here, just like Sensitivity exists for Mouse.
2) Menus are buggy and not easy to understand.
In general, the Difference between the selected Tab and the inactive Tab is too subtle. It's very hard to follow where the Cursor is, sometimes I really lost it, had to use the Mouse, and as the Game doesn't Pause while you're in there, you can't waste Time by trying to follow the Cursor.
Next, in the Options, you can invert Y Axis of both Mouse and Controller for example, and while Mouse is fine on "Normal", I need my Controller to be "Inverted". Each Time I start the Game, the Options Menu doesn't show my Controller being "Inverted", it says "Normal". Once I click it, nothing happens, and if I click it again, it changes. Soo... yeah. Definitely not what it's supposed to do.
3) When you quit, the Game is WAY too unclear about what will happen.
In a Day and Age where every Game ever asks you, "Are you sure? Any Progress will be lost", this one is quite the Oddity. If you quit the Game mid-Mission, which is ~1h long each, you'll have to restart at Level 1 again. You can't suspend your Game and come back later if something has come up, nor can your Game mess up in any Way [see next] without you losing everything.
4) As I first reached Level 2, the Game became unplayable suddenly.
My FPS is at a solid ~40 and upwards usually, sometimes it may go as low as 20, but overall it's good. However, my first Time on Level 2, my FPS suddenly crashed down to unplayable 1 - 5, and all I could do was restart the Game to fix it, whatever had gone wrong. I knew by then, it'll reset my Progress, so I tried, and died. Restarting in Level 1, the FPS didn't get better, so I restarted and it was fine from there on out. Never happened again. [Checked for Background Processes as it did, nothing.]
5) After spawning in on Sublevel 4, I'm unable to move in ANY Way.
I can switch Weapons, open the Menu, even navigate it using both Keyboard and Controller, which is the same for Movement ingame - yet I'm fixed in Place. Restarting the Game could help, yes, but "restarting the Game" means "losing all Progress", and that's reaching Level 4 / 5 and my excellent Weapons. Also, ~4 Hours of Gameplay to get there, all my Failures from before not included.
*Edit: I've just checked, I'm actually missing my Engine completely. The Slot's empty. If I had another one in Inventory, I could equip that probably and keep going. My Engine actually just poofed between Levels. Huh.
_______
All of the above Problems have quickly forced me into backing up my Savegame Folder [PlayerData] for when Things mess up again, like not finding one SINGLE Repair Kit as I go through two Levels, and needing to restart the Game because of Performance Issues to be playable.
I get it, you're supposed to unlock new Things by playing and dying the Way you do, but I still want to be able to A), PLAY the Game to the End without Bugs preventing my Progress, and B), be able to stop playing when something comes up within the 1h of Gametime in one Level. If you rush through, you do it twice, because you die. So, 1h per Level is a realistic Thing.
Even though I've backed up my Saves, I'm stuck on Level 4 now and have to restart. If I didn't have my previous Save, that means restart from Level 1, and that's frustrating. Just because your Game locks you in Place. Starting a new Game lets me move my Ship again, just trying to "Continue" on Level 4 breaks it.
As long as Stuff like this happens, I strongly advise anyone playing this Game to look for their "PlayerData" folder and make a Copy of it every once in a While.
