Sotaria: I remember Speedball and the sequel, but I also remember the PC controls were a pain (especially in the sequel).
The two-player controls in the DOS version were iffy due to PC/DOS itself, ie. PC didn't really support connecting two joysticks on the same PC. I think Gravis or something made some special controller which had two gamepads connected to the same port, not sure if it worked with the DOS version.
Anyway, I recall the (joystick) controls were fine for single-player, and I recall playing the DOS version a lot with my brother, me using the keyboard and him the joystick. :)
Anyway, I wouldn't expect those DOS era PC hardware limitations to be present in this new HD version (confirmed by Silverhawk).
And even if you were playing the DOS version in DOSBox today, I presume mapping the keyboard controls to another gamepad works too, allowing two people to play the DOS version with two gamepads. Ah, progress...
