squid830: I'd imagine that DMS would quite possibly be massively unbalanced in DF:DC due to the improvements made to combat in the meantime.
UniversalWolf: Really? In what way? I finished my DMS playthrough in DF:DC, and it seemed fine, although obviously I have no experience with the old engine to compare it to. I played on Normal difficulty and it was pretty easy, but I sort of expected that from the comments I'd heard about the game.
Cover also affects chance to hit, but I don't think that aspect has changed.
Previously I believe cover only affected chance to hit - no adjustment to criticals/damage.
So the end result is, if you use cover well, you can do MUCH better in DF:DC engine than the old SRR engine.
Of course if you don't play strategically anyway (and/or a low difficulty level) you probably won't notice. And yes DMS wasn't exactly challenging - but if you play DMS on very hard using SRR, and then again on very hard using DF:DC, you're sure to notice the difference.
