I've just beaten Leon A scenario and while I was playing I noticed that there was no auto aim. Is there a way to turn it on or is this version just has no auto aim?
To my knowledge the is based on the original PC release which only has auto-aim in the Arranged Mode. I think the Sourcenext version had auto-aim on all modes but not this version sadly.
TBH, I think I prefer no auto-aim. Makes it a bit more challenging.
Hm kinda disappointing that it works like this in the PC version.
Originally the japanese PS1 version had auto-aim but it was disabled in the western version...however the game had three control schemes and the third one was identical to the first but with auto-aim enabled. Isn't that the case here?

There's no control schemes to choose from since you can configure the keys individually, and there seems to be no way of enabling auto aim in this version.
Auto Aim is enabled in the Arrange Mode, along with the infinite sub machine gun.
Its been ages since I played this on PC, I remember on the PS1 you could play normal mode but still choose to have auto aim, that's not a possibility here? I mean, is not a deal breaker, but I'm been playing with auto-aim for close to 25 years, it feels..."odd" not having it.

yeah, it sucks IMO. no auto aim = doodoo. maybe someone can mod it?

also it doesnt cycle through targets with the bumper button while holding the trigger to aim either :(
Just finished the game, Claire A at least, and unlocked the rocket launcher. Thing is, I don't think the game is noticably harder without the auto-aim, but it feels worse to play because you don't have the quick turn that auto-aim provides and I think Capcom USA removing auto-aim for RE1 and 2 back in the day is part of the reason that some people felt the controls were clunky.

The quick-turn is not available in any version of RE2 (it was added in RE3).
Capcom USA removing the auto-aim in RE1 and RE2 just to boost rental figures was always ridiculous.

I know there's no dedicated quick-turn but like I said "you don't have the quick turn that auto-aim provides" i.e., you could run away from the enemy to get some distance, aim, and the auto-targeting made you turn around way quicker than manual turning does.

The PS1 version of RE2 did have autoaim. It was buried in the control settings.

Agreed. I hope somebody out there decides to properly mod this version of the game with a Classic Rebirth patch. If we can get auto-aim, quick turn, and Seamless HD on a PC version of the game with the North American enemy/item placements... that would be definitive.

Yeah. Right now the issue is...you can install the japanese version and get auto-aim, sure...but other than removing auto-aim, all the other changes to the western versions' difficulty are one of the few instances where western publishers demanding a japanese game to be made harder by default actually turned out for the better. RE2 US/EU is pretty easy as is, but the japanese version is *really* *really* easy and it's not the auto-aim. That just makes the game feel better because it really wasn't designed around blind firing at enemies behind walls and other objects.

Yeah. If I wanted to play the SourceNext version with Classic Rebirth well... nobody has ever needed GOG for that...
