Hello. I bought the Rayman series during the Summer Sale, and I've been trying to get Rayman 2 working.

While everything seems to be working fine at first, the game crashes while loading the area that follows the slide off the Pirate Ship. I've looked for other topics, and I haven't been able to find a workaround. Here's what I've tried:

1) Added Rayman2.exe as an exception in the DEP settings.
2) Changed nGlide to desktop resolution.
3) Changed settings in GXSetup to DirectX6.
4) Restarted the computer multiple times.
5) Used Compatibility Mode on Rayman2.exe.
6) Checked off the "Run this program as an Administrator" option in Rayman2.exe's properties.
7) Downloaded and installed the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010).
8) Checked for "ubi.ini" in the install folder. (It is there.)

Unfortunately, none of these methods have worked, and I've watched Globox ram into Rayman more times than any human requires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using a Windows 7 (64-bit) OS, and my PC specs exceed the requirements of the game.

I think once I got it running by using D3DWindower.

I can't remember how I got the game running normally. It doesn't really run at 60 FPS on Windows 8 due to the poor DirectDraw support, I clearly remember being able to run Rayman 2 at one point, but I forgot what I did sadly.

Thanks for the advice. I checked out both D3DWindower and DxWind, and I've tested several settings. Unfortunately, I've gotten the same results. If there's anything you can remember about the config, it'd be a great help.

Has anyone else gotten Rayman 2 to work in a Windows 7 (64-bit) environment?

I would have to tinker with it again, but I can't remember what I did exactly. It was a bit hit and miss, it kinda worked but it was a bit buggy. At one point I had no audio even though I got the game to run fine.

Thanks for the replies. I've tested out a bunch of other things, and I've watched Rayman get pushed off the Pirate Ship a dozen more times. Unfortunately, I still get the crash in the same spot. The only other solution I've heard about is downgrading my DirectX drivers, but that'd only be practical if I had one game. If you do any additional tinkering, I'd definitely want to hear about the results.

It's frustrating not being able to get the game working, especially after all the troubleshooting I've done.
Hello! First, try reinstalling Rayman 2 or, if using GOG Galaxy, selecting "Rayman 2: The Great Escape > More > Manage > Verify / Repair". If the issue persists, uninstall the game and reinstall in a different location on your hard drive. As the issue happens regardless of graphical settings and only affects the game once a certain area has been reached, it is likely either a file corruption or file permission error.

If you still cannot get past this area, press "ESC" during the pirate ship level to access the pause menu, then type "gothere". Use the up and down arrow keys to change the level displayed at the top to "The Fairy Glade", then press "ENTER". This will bypass the problematic level and should hopefully allow you to continue in the game.
I've downloaded Rayman 2 again on the Galaxy Client, and this was one detail which I had forgotten about as I was testing stuff around.

As the game launches it'll flicker for a while, after it stops flickering the game should work and run just fine. I think I had it crash because of something else I was messing with.

Edit: Wait, there was more stuff, ughh I need to sort this stuff out.
