bliznik, I thought about your suggestion some more, and I think it may have some problems:

I'm pretty sure many of the bug fixes to QfG4 on ScummVM were done in 2022 and later. Reverting to a 2021 version would just get me more bugs, not fewer in that case. (It's hard to tell from ScummVM's SCI bugs log, though. It doesn't have dates.)

What do you mean no dates?
The earliest fix is from 6 years ago while the latest is from just recently.
1) GitHub log
2) ScummVM log

That's why there's a request to implement those enhancements officially in ScummVM, but it was posted under QFG3.

Sorry, I was looking at a different file which has a description of each bug in all SCI games and how it's been corrected but no dates.

I should add that I completed the game as a fighter about a month ago and found no resurfaced bugs other than the aforementioned Rusalka one. So my fears may have been overblown. I should have posted about this earlier.
Well, nevertheless there are still pending bugs but so far no one is willing to fix them since ScummVM is not what causes them...(except the wiki bug which I have no idea why they refuse to fix).

I'm not sure (I only started interacting with ScummVM recently), but it may be that wiki maintenance is simply not the highest priority for ScummVM people. (Question: this is a wiki. Who is allowed to edit it?)

It seems to me that the main thing that is required with ScummVM and bugs is patience. In the games I've looked at, they've fixed most bugs that I'm aware of.

As someone who has reported bugs in games for ScummVM, they typically go through a bug fix cycle with every new release. Developers who have a penchant for those games test out the bugs a lot before the release and fix a bunch of bugs.

Since these bugs were only reported about 6 weeks' ago, I would anticipate nobody at ScummVM looking at them until its next major release, which may be 6 months to a year from now.

Another way to look at it, is look at all of the bugs that were reported that were CLOSED (https://bugs.scummvm.org/query?status=closed&game=Quest+for+Glory+4&col=id&col=summary&col=status&col=owner&col=type&col=priority&col=component&col=time&col=changetime&desc=1&order=time) It looks like the most recent bug that was fixed was 6 months ago. So...bugs are still being fixed, it just takes time.

Given that the registration link is disabled and there's no documentation who can edit, then probably just a very closed list of people.

Not sure what you mean, please re-review my link. More than 64% of these are from much earlier, some "just" from last year while others are from even 5 years ago.

Right, there are many bug fix requests that were created.

Some were fixed, some were not fixed.

Three of the ones that were not fixed were created more than 5 years' ago. Those bugs are specific to the QFG4 version that was distributed via floppy disk, not the version that was distributed via GOG. I am guessing that those bugs were never fixed b/c the developers probably don't have the floppy disk version of QFG4.

You can also see some of the bugs that were not fixed that were created 19 months' ago. 2 of those bugs were fixed, and 4 were not fixed. In one of the bugs that were not fixed, you can see this note:

"To my knowledge, every open QFG4 ticket is an original game bug. Same with most QFG3 ones. They're not crashes or lockups or ScummVM bugs, and these two games have hundreds of script bugs.

See all of the script bugs listed in Ash Lancer's patch sets:

https://github.com/AshLancer/QFG3-Fan-Patch/
https://github.com/AshLancer/QFG4-Enhanced

These two SCI games have an overwhelming amount of script bugs, especially QFG4. ScummVM has a disproportionately large number of QFG4 script patches. That's what it took to finally promote it to Stable. I wrote some of the intense ones, but most patches were written by a motivated fan.

Pull requests are always welcome, but the current state of QFG3/4 tickets is, in my opinion, a lot of low priority details, which is why these are the remaining open ones. No one else has shown any interest. As Ash's bug lists show, patching every single mistake out of these two games is hopeless. Someone could just keep going down the list of his bug list and create a ScummVM ticket for each. And these two games keep attracting tickets like this. So I leave them open for years in case someone wants to do anything about them. But when even *I'm* not interested... =)"

If you have write access to the wiki, maybe at least fix the documentation bug, which should take seconds to fix, but they don't give access to anyone to send pull requests to it...

Just wondering any solution yet to Save Rot has this finally been solved.
