Okay, I apologize for what will probably be an offensive post to you, but I have to heartily disagree with this.

For starters, the QFG2 VGA remake was very much a labor of love, made by very devoted fans. Years of labor were put into it with absolutely no expectations of ever seeing a single penny from it. The Coles *and* whoever owned the copyright at the time were consulted, not only to make sure that no legal toes were stepped on, but that certain things that didn't make it into the original would make it into the remake. And also that you could seamlessly import and export your characters.

And I must be blunt. The point of a remake is *never* to be exactly the same but with a few updates. The point of a remake is to be different. If it isn't different, then it isn't a remake - just an update.

Is it perfect? Absolutely not. I would never expect it to be. Do I still play the original? yes. But I also still play the remake! After all, they're different experiences, different takes on the same game. Just like the two versions of Quest for Glory 1 are.

It's really okay to be a purist, but please don't so callously dismiss the hard work that other fans, people who love the games just like you and I do, have put into this. It is insulting to them.

And personally, I would absolutely recommend that it belongs in the "must play" list, along with every other Quest for Glory game. In fact, I believe it to be truer to the series than the officially made Quest for Glory 5.

I prefer the remake. I prefer superior graphics and I HATE typing. Also in the remake you can get an infinite amount of money without cheating (just keep giving mushrooms to the healer. Even though she'll say she has enough, she'll keep accepting them and you'll keep getting money)

HI, This is my greeting message. I'm much better at this than I was when I first played this game. Never did like the EGA version and I was a huge fan of Infocom and their Interactive Fiction. So, my vote is VGA all the way. Back to building skills. Be Heroic All!

Actually, no, I can legitimately see why people prefer the original over the remake. It's got a character to it that's continued by Quest for Glory 2. It's also pretty jarring to go from VGA point and click to EGA parser - which is one of the reasons the fan remake of Trial by Fire was made.

And they might not like claymation. I don't blame them. The portraits in Quest for Glory 1 were my least favorite aspect of the remake, even before I realized it was actually a remake (My age was in the single digits, I didn't go on the internet much when I first played it.)

That being said, the Hero to me will always wear a red cape, not a black one. It's too iconic for me. And I'm sad future games lost the cape.

Mostly the remake, except for buying from/selling to the Healer. It's horribly, horribly bugged. Several ways to get infinite money, but she often just pockets your money and doesn't give you the potions you bought. Just tried to purchase 5 stamina and 3 healing potions, ended up with 2 and 1, respectively, but the money is gone.

At least getting the DIspel potion works.

Yeah, the problem is that there's a very small delay between when the healer gets your money and gives you the potion. If you're in a hurry, it's very easy to buy another potion inside of that delay, which stops the script that would give you your potion and starts it over again.

The solution is to buy it, wait for her animation to complete, then buy another one, wait, buy, wait, buy, wait.

Patience is a virtue in these games. At least it's not like QFG5 where you can easily go through 500 pills and 100 potions.

I prefer the graphics and gameplay style of the remake, but if anyone has not tried it, try to get yourself a Roland MT-32 and change the audio settings to use it.

It will change the way you play the game. The Roland soundtrack was made aware to me by Corey and Lori Cole, who created the game, and it is AMAZING. And it works through the first four games.
