Aren't we sure a goto is missing in the option for hipnotic? It is long time I wrote .bat file, but it seems it starts hipnotic, starts rogue and finally return to the menu...

Oh, I think you are right, as I noticed when I launch one of the expansions, it launches a second one, that stays minimized. What´s the text change needed?
Thanks

Add a line like:

goto main

just before the line :e3
That worked, thanks! :)

Oops. Fixing... thanks for pointing that out. =)

FlynnArrowstarr, thanks for the batch file.

ryuhei64,
I'm not currently on a computer with windows, but I believe you can change the icon to whatever you want. You should be able to right click on the batch file and select properties or settings (or whatever it's called). There should be an option to change the icon.

This one looks nice:

I'd suggest downloading the png and ico files to see which one works for you. I know Windows XP requires icon files with the extension .ico

Right-click the current icon, select Properties from the menu and then click the Change Icon button. I used the icon embedded in the QuakeSpasm executable file. Not useful though if you have a dark background picture, heh.

Glad you like the batch file. I find them useful for things like this. =)

Thanks. There are some nice icons for Quake 1-3 and Doom 1-2 on iconarchives.
I see you can also format any image you want to .ico on sites like this one:
http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-ico

By the way, are there any compilation of user-made icons for gog games? Since all the gog games have the same rounded .exe icon, but not all of them have the best or most iconic images :)

I found this, but I can't tell which icon belongs with which game:

Searching for individual game icons on google might get you prettier icons though.

Hello again. I´m having a lot of fun playing Quake 1 and the expansions with the source mod. The game has not aged at all, gameplay wise. And the atmosphere is fantastic.

I bought Redneck Rampage, an plan to buy Shadow Warrior. Are there source mods for them? :)

For Redneck Rampage:
https://code.google.com/p/erampage/wiki/MainPage

For Shadow Warrior:

JonoF's Shadow Warrior Port (JFSW)
http://www.jonof.id.au/jfsw

or

Proasm

I don't have Redneck Rampage or Shadow Warrior, so I don't know how well those source ports work. As always, I recommend scanning anything you download with the Virus Total website:

The Redneck Rampage mod works great, and the Proasm mod for Shadow Warrior too, lots of graphical enhancements like eduke32. I still have to discover how to make the expansions for SW work.

By the way, is there any possibility for the Hexen games to appear on gog? :)
do those ports work in Linux?

etb: do those ports work in Linux?
You'll need to look through each website to know for sure.

The JonoF's Shadow Warrior Port (JFSW) says on it's page:
"Native Windows and Linux port using my Build engine port."

I've played Quake on Linux with Dark Places before.

GZDoom supposedly can be played in Linux, but you'll need to compile it for your version of Linux (I've never been able to compile anything successfully, but that's me).

I'm not sure who owns the rights to Heretic, Hexen, and Hexen 2 or if / when they'll come to GOG. I do know that GZDoom works with Heretic and Hexen though and there's a source port of Hexen 2 called Hammer of Thyrion.

Hello again. I have another novice question :(

I have downloaded QUAKE INJECTOR to play some user created content (a friend recommended me Arcane Dimension) but it seems I can´t have the engine configuration right.
I choose my "Quake directory", but about the "Quake executable", which file should I choose? If I choose the quakespasm.exe, it says I need the registered version, even though it´s in the same folder as my GOG downloaded and installed Quake. (quakespasm itself works perfectly, I did the swap of the .pak files and all that, and I´ve been playing the main game and the official expansions).

I also tried to install and run Arcane Dimension separately, I downloaded it, unzipped, but I´m stuck on the fifth step of the installation process (see below). Where is the "Command line"? Is it on the Properties menu of the shorcut? I don´t see it. (I thought I was not that noob, but this is quite embarrassing haha...)

Here´s the process as written in the readme file:

* Create a new folder called "ad" in your Quake folder
* Copy the Zip file into the new folder
* Extract the contents of the zip file
* Create a shortcut to your preferred Quake engine
* Add the following to the command line

-heapsize 256000 -zone 4096 -game ad

* Run the shortcut (click icon) and make sure the engine loads
* After the start map has loaded pick your skill level
