lexluthermiester: The Enhanced version of Quake has already been confirmed for GOG, so you really need to quit with your disinformation.

fronzelneekburm: Then do me a solid: Don't quote me. I'm really, really sick of getting notifications every time some exceptional individual writes something really outlandishly stupid in this thread.

You folks go enjoy the wait!
That really says more about you than anyone else, so how about you stop reacting with your pride, quit crap-posting and people won't put your silly self in your place.
avatar
lexluthermiester: That having been said, is there an estimated time frame for it?
avatar
AmethystViper: I take it that they're still working on fixing some of the major issues with the enhanced version of Quake. A minor patch for the Steam and console versions was released a couple of days ago fixing lobby instability and a few other small things (e.g. backing out of the Bethesda-net log-in error screen would cause the game's demo playback to restart).
Fair enough. I'd rather have a fixed up version anyway and don't mind waiting a bit for a better version.

Look, buddy, I get that the waiting time for QUAKE ENHANCED EDITION to arrive on gog my get a bit tedious, but that really is no reason at all to pull me back into this vile, rotten slurry pit of a thread.

Just sit back, relax and enjoy the wait! It'll be here ANY MINUTE NOW! :o)
Once again I have to ask the participants of the discussion to tone down a bit. This is directed towards fronzelneekburm and lexluthermiester. Calling someone's posts outlandishly stupid or crap-posting is on the edge of violation of our rules. No official warning as of now, just a kind request. If the emotions won't settle down a bit, further actions will be taken however.
Four more days and it has been already a full month without any news after it was announced by SmollestLight. This is really disappointing.
You know I'm on the edge with this one. I ordered a physical copy for Switch, so yeah probably 2022 since limited run games also means at least a six month wait since their model is a joke. I did the same with Doom 64, and still waiting on that Doom 1+2 pack too.

Point? While other nightdive goodies have hit GoG along with Steam, one has NOT... another bethesda gem -- DOOM 64. WHY?!

If we had the answer to that one, then we'd have the answer likely to Quake too. I'm thinking Bethesda is screwing around for some sad sack of a reason that makes no sense. Maybe they can juice people on Steam far more and love the DRM lock?

I mean it's what $10? I'm tempted, despite owning the original game package still and having the GoG version just to check out the updates... but what stopped me, paying for it, being punished for having it on GoG since Steam players got it free which stings.

My take on this is either the Bethesda.net connection (which could not be up to GoG DRM-Free standards and that would explain the absence of Doom 64 here) or the multiplayer integration, as the new Quake does only work on peer to peer connection (lol) through Bethesda.net. I'm picturing here either GoG asking for some kind of Galaxy compatibility, or just Bethesda not seeing as worth it put the effort.

Either way, taking into account it's been over three weeks already (And that Bethesda is neither a small company nor has had any trouble on releasing the game in several platforms at the same time), I would not count with them releasing this "enhanced" version anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong, but I've kinda given up on Bethesda on this platform.

I agree and I was trolled by a few on this forum for saying the same thing.

The only thing I heard you saying was something among the lines of "GoG should pull all their games until they do the update".

Not exactly the same as saying the update will take long because Bethesda.
¿Can we just stay in the topic that the Enhanced Version is not here yet instead of going on personal discussions, on what someone said or did not said, please?

Fair enough, but I find it hard to stay on topic when people are being disingenuous or can't be straight forward about said topic don't you agree? Prob how this forum got into this mess.

Otherwise I agree with you. GoG was never a priority platform for many big game companies, couple that with the non-DRM policy I don't find it surprising their games take sweet time to get here.

I already knew what to expect from this platform so that's why I can wait patiently, besides it was confirmed Quake will get updated eventually and I don't feel like buying the game again.

Downvote and move on. Hey, I get tangled in that crap from time to time too (nothing like a bad day to unconsciously try to find someone who Is Wrong On The Internet©, specially during the COVID shitshow), but in the end arguing about that stuff is just wasting your time.

All we can do about this is write that we are upset and move on, sourceports like Quakespasm (and spiked) have been making updates to make it compatible with the new stuff, so at least there's going to be a way. It pisses me off how most of the "big games" I've bought have ended up being screwed (Dragon's Dogma, although it was minor stuff and Dying Light come on the top of my head), but well, that's life. The "games that treat gog customers as second class citizens" list is there for a reason, and looking at how big companies treat this shop for online stuff, it's better to just stay away from any "live" game.

So yeah, back to the topic:****** Bethesda, even though I really really wanted to see Deathloop here.

[Modded by Sarafan: Please refrain from insulting other companies.]

I understand that the delay in publishing the remastered version of Quake on GOG generates emotions, but we have a general rule that insulting others, no matter whether it's an individual or a company, is not allowed. It's a violation of our CoC: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001814049-Forum-Code-of-Conduct?product=gog. Treat this as a kind warning and please refrain from doing so in the future. Thank you.

That is what I said, meaning they should get the update. I guess you think everything I say is wrong.
this smells fishy
what's the big delay? just scrap multiplayer if it doesn't meet GOG freedom standards. It has happened before.
At the risk of being labeled as a "Bethesda fanboy", but people seem to be forgetting that the Quake remaster is on multiple platforms, and as of recent developments, it's also on no less than four PC digital distribution platforms despite not being available on GOG and the Epic Games Store as of yet, and the dev team are working on trying to fix issues with the remaster on consoles as well as PC. A community member and id Software programmer has already confirmed the already present audio issue I mentioned earlier and I have recently sent an issue report over to Kaiser via twitter about some of the issues I encountered with the Steam version of the Quake remaster (which he also forwarded among the other team members at Nightdive Studios). I'm no game developer but I'm pretty sure working on, maintaining support, and at the moment, bugfixing a remaster of 25-year-old game that was ported to a new framework on various platforms, especially on wildly different consoles each with their own API and hardware specs, is not something that can instantly be done with a snap of a finger.
