I just started the game up, and am having an issue with the audio popping and sounding very static-y

Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, are there any fixes?

What you are describing is pretty much exactly what DPC is like.
What OS? If Windows 10, creator's update?
Run LatencyMon or a tool like it.

This is the first game which I've heard this issue. I figured it might just be an audio anomaly in this new version, but it is pretty jarring. I do not have the creator's update for windows (that i know of)
I'm having the same issue - like little bursts of static at certain points.

If I turn down the Ambient sound volume the problem goes away - of course so does a significant chunk of sound and atmosphere...

Update - Zhare86 - what soundcard are you using? For me the issue seems to be related to my SoundBlaster - switched to on-board audio and the issue vanishes.

I'm using a pre-built HP desktop so I'm pretty sure there isn't a separate sound card built in, whatever I'm using is onboard.

There are 3 sound devices listed in my device manager though:
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
Realtek High Definition Audio

Realtek is what is listed as being default under playback devices (I think the others are just ports from my monitors?)

For me it was definitely my sound card - it was about 7 years old. I got a new Sound Blaster through today and not having the issue.

You could try the suggestion in this thread on the Beamdog forums. It's for an issue where no sound is playing - but someone responds to say it fixed static issues he was having.

It's also specifically geared toward Sound Blaster X-Fi cards - so you might need to tweak it.
I am having the exact same problem. I am in the catacombs right now and it's particularly bad there.

I've noticed there's no solution here yet and I really need one!

I'm using an onboard soundcard. I've tried reinstalling OpenAL to no effect. I tried the trick of copying that OpenAl.dll file directly into the PST:EE folder to no effect. I've tried running it in compatibility mode, administrator mode, and windowed mode, all to no effect.

I don't get the static on any other game, including other EE titles, or any other program. Therefore it's not a latency issue - I have encountered those before. This isn't that.

Does anyone have ANY other ideas?
