aqrit: Distributing or using a version that is 4 years behind in bug fixes is never a good idea.
Usually, I would agree. But not in this case. I install a widescreen mod to get my game in widescreen. That version does exactly what I want to achieve. The newer version don't give me anything but problems. And with crashes, my first intention (to PLAY this game in widescreen) isn't achieved. As enduser I see only the results on screen. So IF there is anything wrong (anything within the code which doesn't effect my experience apparently) with 2.20 I didn't notice so far and it doesn't matter. So there is no logical reason to get the later one (bugfixes are obsolet if it crashes)

Except it doesn't crash any more, of course.

It's good if 3.06 solved the problems I was bothered with but since I'm fully satisfied and in the middle of the game I won't risk anythin and stick with 2.20

I really wish that I had left well-enough alone after I installed the 2.20 wsm! Like you, everything was perfect at 1920x1200 with 2.20-I could walk into the smallest tent without it crossing my mind that the game might crash--and then I decided to try out 3.06--and I have never been able to get the game back to that pristine state I originally achieved with 2.2! 3.06 @1920x1200 crashes every time I try and enter a tent or small building--crashes right to the desktop, and hard-locks the cursor so that I have to log off and log back on to recover. ANd now the same thing is happeneing with 2.20. I can't think of what I might do to get back to my original 2.2 state--seems like I've done everything, up to and including reinstalling the game three times and rebuilding the mods in the game carefully. Nothing works.
Did you save your game with the 3.06 version and try to reload THAT specific save after reinstalling 2.20? If yes, reload a savegame you have saved with 2.20 but not with 3.06.

Otherwise, just delete everything, your whole PS:T folder, reinstall everything and use your savegame you was using with 2.20.

WAIT, when I remember correctly newer version offers you to patch your savegames. Did you do that? In that case all your saves seems to be 3.06-branded. That might cause the trouble even after going back to 2.20

You know--that's a good point...;) I hadn't thought about that but you might be right. That's the very next thing I'll try.
2.20 is reported to work badly in Wine so that's not an option for me at least. I will try 3.06b though, although I'm a bit worried after those reports.
At long last, success....! I can now enter the tiniest of spaces without a problem! And, I'm doing it it, too, with a series of games I had started from scratch with 3.06b of the widescreen mod.

Lesson learned the hard way: if I start with a particular version of the WS mod and everything is working fine--I shouldn't change my WS mod horses in mid-stream...;) OK, now I can at last return to simply enjoying this terrific game, and thanks again to all of the modders for all of their great work!
I was happily playing through the game, and 3 o 4 hours into it, it suddenly started crashing when I exit Mebbath's hut. I was there many times before. The only difference is that, right now, I have Dak'kor in my party. But I doubt this may be the case.

Anyway, I'm running Win7, and the mods WSv3.05 and UIv2.2.7 (and the other recommended ones.

First, I tried replacing (because it was already installed in the posted .zip) the current WS mod with the WSv3.06 as some posts in this thread suggest.

No change.

So right now I was going to try the other solution in this thread: Uninstalling the current UI and WS and installing WSv2.2 with UIv2.2.7.

And now I can't even install the WS mod!

I couldn't attach SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG and copying it full may be too much, so I'll just attach a screenshot.

Try the 3.06 dev build that was linked to earlier in this thread. I was crashing every time I left her hut as well, but that version fixed it.

If you read my post, I stated that I already tried that version. The one linked in this very thread. In any case, as that version doesn't come with an installer, what should I do to install it? Because I just pasted it OVER (replacing) the installed WS folder.

Has the linked v3.06 to be copied replacing 3.05's files to be installed, or is there other way I should do it?

EDIT:

Okay: Before installing WSv3.05, I changed its "widescreen" folder for the corresponding folder inside the compressed v3.06b posted in this thread. After that, I installed it normally, and the rest of the fixes after it. And everything worked just fine.

I think that the main mod guide should be updated somehow...

Hi,

I don't get it...how should I install 3.06b patch?

I simply extracted the files to the widescreen folder replacing the existing files but the game still crashes in the art gallery...did I do something wrong?

Thanks!

Thanks for the help.
Does this crashing problem when using the widescreen mod v3.05 affect only Planescape : Torment or does it affect any of the other Infinity Engine games ? (I have GOG versions of all these games with widescreen v3.05 installed in each case but I haven't played any of them yet).

Does the widescreen mod v3.05 work with the disc version of P:T ? Is this constant crashing a problem with the widescreen mod v3.05 itself or only with the GOG version of Torment when used with v3.05 ?

Reading this thread I'm a bit confused as to what the solution is : to reinstall everything from the beginning and use the widescreen mod v3.06b instead ?
Aqrit, when you submit widescreen mod 3.06 officially?

Same here, there doesn't seem to be a setup-widescreen.exe file with the latest version.
