Just being curious here: is this version uncut? I guess so, I just want to make sure.
I'll let you know when I finish installing it. What was cut from the edited version of the game?

On a similar note, why is it in three pieces?

That one's easy: it's two separate disk images, plus the install executable.

Oh wow, so all the retail extras it had are present here as well? I've been eyeing the Painkiller: Gold Edition on Steam since I'm a huge nerd for Steam (I have like 120 games on there), but I've always wanted a copy of the Black Edition ever since it came out.
I'll have to get this soon. =)

Actually, I may have spoken too quickly. I just tried opening the two .bin files, which I assumed were disk images, using a virtual CD/DVD drive and ImgBurn and both of them reported the files were invalid image formats. If they are disk images, the additional content that may have been on them from the original Black Edition is not accessible through any normal means. What were the retail extras? Perhaps they are available as part of the installation and I just didn't notice it yet.

According to Wikipedia:
"It also features mapping and editing tools, a limited edition Penny Arcade poster, a making-of movie, and behind the scenes interviews, and the latest patch which adds new features to the game and bring its quality up to competition standard (see Professional gaming below). Painkiller: Black Edition does not include the Penny Arcade poster. The technical difference is that the Gold Edition has the game over six CD's, while the Black Edition has the game on DVD."
I guess it's not a HUGE deal then. But still, images of the DVDs would be nice. Maybe a scan of the poster as a downloadable extra? (yes I like penny arcade) =)

The GOG version does include the editing tools, movies and has the latest patch, but not the poster.
Most .bin files can be opened as an archive with something like 7zip. Take a look.

Yeah, tried that, no go.

I gave up on that as well. Seems that gog uses their own proprietary packer format of sorts..
You can be sure that we are not going to forget our titles and we are still looking for a bonus content for you :)

The blood was either cut out completely or changed to green, I'm not sure. And I think you couldn't pin the enemies to the wall using the stake gun. Don't know how much else was cut.

Well, there is definitely blood in it, and it is not green. I haven't got the stake gun yet, but I think it is safe to assume it will work as advertised, since the GOG guys keep talking about how cathartic it is to use over in the general forum.

Damn... Sounds like I'll have to spend some money then ;)
BTW, is it weird if I own the game and buy it again here just so I won't have to have the DVD inserted?
