Wait? Yeah. Time is not money. Not. Catch that double neg? Only thing I can do, however. Wait wait wait. I got scammed by Hello Games and their developer bullshit. Not like I can buy twenty $5 footlongs, anymore. Thorchild, that money is forever gone.

You have every right to be pissed off, because game launch was, well, less than ideal.
The point is: forum members can't give you back neither time nor money, only advice.

Are you interested?

ThorChild: Seriously if you have bought this game and feel upset, go play another game.
I have this block of land I would like to sell you. It's a great deal. No... really it is!
well after a month of not being able to play and zero help from hello games...i have fixed the problem myself.

seems it was corrupt save files.

removing the following files:

storage3.hg
mf_storage3.hg

fixed my issue. of course i lost some stuff...but at least i can play again.

if anyone comes across this and you think this solution might help you...use whichever of those files has the largest number at the end of it...in my case it was 3...yours may differ.
im actually pretty annoyed at myself for taking a month to try that.

i feel stupid for not thinking of that sooner, like a lot sooner...especially considering all the things i DID attempt.

oh well...the good part is i started playing two wolds again since i couldnt play nms...i forgot how much of a guilty pleasure those games are.
and it seems the new versions have broken every single mod i care about.

ffs...im about ready to just give up on this game. its just not worth the effort.

Wow. I left this crap a month ago and the game worked for me. You`re still trying with this piece of shite having not being able to even play it?

You sure like punishment.
I thought we had talked about the uninstalling and reinstalling and getting rid of all the game files (which would include the save games)?

Well, atleast you got there in the end :)

In relation to mods, which ones are you having problems with......i ask as i have seen no issues running any of the mods i currently use, so it might be good to know which ones you have problems with.

we did...and i did uninstall and reinstall...but i overlooked the save files (but really...the uninstaller should have asked me about them)....like i said...im annoyed with myself for missing it.

and as far as the mods...nmse was broken which in turn broke all the things that rely on it...and reshade was broken...it seems i needed to just reinstall them. i dont know why...they were there...and not even updated...i just had to drag the files on top of themselves from the zips/rars...doesnt make sense...but there it is. the reshade preset i use is messed up though...doesnt look like it used to and some of the elements arent working...mainly dof. ill figure it out.

so it seems im back to normal again (mostly)...and i only lost 2 minutes of in game time. my habit of double saving when i shut down payed off i guess.

the real funny part is i figured it out myself on the very day hello games sent me a real response to my support request. what are the odds?

so thanks hello games...thanks for nothing. an entire MONTH to send a support request response is absolutely unacceptable.
Ah yeah NMSE is pretty experimental so far. I've avoided it until it (and NMS!) becomes more mature and stable. It was a vital modtool in Fallout 3, so i hope it gets to that state at some point.

As an aside i have gone back to a pretty basic mod list, while mods get updated to later versions and Hello Games bring out the updates etc. I got a good idea of what the great mods are now, so will play near vanilla for a while until everything is updated.

yeah, makes sense. for me, my main goal while playing is finding nice things to take screenshots of...so the toggle hud mod is absolutely essential...as is the reshade i use. you would also be surprised how useful the flashlight is during the day for screenshots. for the life of my i cant fathom how they came to the decision to dissalow using the flashlight during the "day"...did they not notice all the caves they put in the game?? anyway...flashlight anytime is also only available via nmse. i couldnt care less really about reaching the center...or upgrades or anything thats considered "game play"...all i want is to explore and take pictures of stuff.

i wish they would get rid of all that nonsense...its not very good anyway. id be happy if they removed all game play mechanics and made some kind of new game out of taking pictures of new and interesting things. now that would be cool...instead of just uploading creatures you find...you get some kind of reward for getting a good image of the thing. or for uploading images of nice scenery....i have no idea how that could be implemented...but id like it.

but then again...im weird.
No not weird at all :) Lots of people, maybe even most of them (i count myself as one) LOVE taking screenshots of the game. It's like this never ending incredible vista creation tool.

So yeah that is one of the main reasons you see lots of screenshots posted around the net for the game, and threads full of mostly screenshots. It would be great if GOG forums allowed us to embed screenshots too, links to view a screen are often passed over it seems.

Anyway i use a more 'clunky' method for screenshots.

I run MSIAfterburner software to enable a fps counter in the game (as i like to keep an eye on that) and it also allows you to configure keys for screenshots. It does other stuff like OC your GPU and record gameplay also, but i use it just for the fps counter and screenshots.

When i see a view i want to keep i go into the games graphics settings and switch 'Show HUD' to off (hit 'allow' button to enact) then go back to the game and all icons etc are gone, so take my screenshot, then go put the HUD back on to carry on gaming.

The torch issue is a problem, and as we have not seen a mod for that (outside of the script for NMSE) it looks like it will have to come from Hello Games (and that could take ages!). It is a crazy design choice really.

i also use afterburner. its the easiest way to actually get the reshade...most other screen cap methods dont get the post processing.

and your method of getting rid of the hud is what i was doing before the toggle hud mod...it works...but its not a very elegant solution. its especially not good for "action" shots.

for what its worth...i have experienced zero problems using nmse...i find those two mods alone (toggle hud, and flashlight any time) are more than worth the price of admission. if i didnt know i was using nmse...i wouldnt know i was using it. really the one and only negative (if you can even call it that) is that gog galaxy no longer logs my hours played. achievements and such still trigger normally though...not that i care about any of that.

give nmse a shot...you can always stop using it if you dont like it. i think though youll find it useful.

I use Steam to launch the game for their overlay, screenshot ability (which does grab ReShade processing) and free storage for the screenshot.

As for Galaxy not tracking time, never cared. I know Galaxy would track the time if it launched the game itself.

i dont think you can launch it via the nmse launcher through steam, which i need for the mods (maybe you can)...but it doesnt matter, i have no problems with my current setup.
