In the promo videos did they zoom our? I though they just moved through space? I was able to get the same effect by going to free look mode and hitting s to move backwards (I think it was 's'). I just held it down and away we went through the universe.

Combat is pretty poor I find. I just tend to avoid it completely.

Also the copy/paste pre-fab buildings which are exactly the same everywhere. They could at least have used to some procedural generation with them.

In one of the videos he used his "cheating powers" to zoom out in universe map to show the game off.

I was playing the game off-and-on all weekend and I have to say there are a number of UI and gameplay annoyances that really slow you down:

- The UI was not optimized for use with either a mouse or a gamepad. It's using a pointer that you have to hold the mouse button or gamepad button down for a second for it to register a "click/button press". The UI also tends to scroll off the screen as you move the virtual pointer.

- There's no way to map planets or manage the waypoints you've found. If you found an on-planet trading post, it's very easy to lose track of it when you fly off to another location.

- There's no obvious way to repair critical damage to your ship if you survive a tough fight with pirates. I saved at a space station, restarted the game and my damage was repaired.

- The space combat is really cheap and is artificially difficult. If you find yourself up against 4 pirates, you might as well reload your last save. There's no quick way to recharge your shields other than to go into the clunky menus and hope you have some oxides in your hold, all the while you're still being shot at in real time.

- The scanning process is broken and most of the time doesn't reveal anything, even for outposts/shelters in line of sight.

The 'ship trick' works, but isn't speedy.

The way to speed it up is to buy a higher storage ship, say 28-32 slots. Any crashes ships are 'usually' a 1 slot upgrade to yours. After 28 slots ships become VERY expensive (6 million+ up to 60+ million or more). But to speed things up buy your first high slot ship from mining money then go searching for your next upgrades. Starting at 14 slots or something and working up would take forever and the payoff is slower than mining.

Also, you can do ship after ship after ship all on the same planet. You dont have to even change planets.

I really don`t worry about all these `tricks` of other users I just play the game and do mighty fine.

I've noticed this too. Earlier today, I scanned the area around me in the ship and nothing came up, yet I saw some structures on the ground. I thought maybe it was a location I had already been to (wish there was way to mark previously visited locations) and I flew past it but then I thought, "WTF why not just land there for the hell of it". Turns out, it was an undiscovered location.
Wait a minute so I can keep stuffing Bypass Chips into those machines and it will just keep on finding new transmissions? That's kind of lame.

Anyone know how to view blueprints if your inventory is full? I finally found a new Multitool and installed a couple upgrades...but I can't view my other blueprints unless I destroy one of the upgrades?

Correct, you can keep finding transmission towers and more wrecked ships.

Haha, that would require something besides a dev who wires a random number generator to an engine and calls it a day.
