maka86: The multiplayer option is still there and able to be toggled. Not sure how you can miss the 'Network & Voice' tab under Options.

The Galaxy overlay doesn't work with NMS, either 1.2.x or 2.0. Cannot recall if it never worked wit hthe game or because it's down to Vulkan. That might be a bigger limitation in joining people from your friends list or sending invites as currently invite friends doesn't do anything.

Also, Nexus is emtpy. I've ever only ever seen one other person. Maybe better luck in other regions around the world.

UK_John: I thought that was for network and voice. Didn't think it was all about multiplayer/solo play options, which is what it should have been called. And the two opening options lead you to believe there isn't anything else. So I take it as a compliment that you was surprised I didn't see it; because I didn't.
Well I told you to look, you just blew me off. LOL

vladesch: I'm not sure that is true. I would imagine that hello games probably coded this game to be able to run correctly without an active internet connection, but obviously your discoveries wouldn't be sent to the cloud for others to see. ie I suspect you would still get the money and it would remember your discoveries on your own machine.
But try it out and see. I dont have it downloaded yet so I dont know.

I was also thinking of blocking incoming connections only.

UK_John: I am trying all these things - but no joy. Everything I say is because I have tried it. I do have GOG Galaxy though, so I could roll the game back to 1.77 and just miss out on the solo play Beyond changes, like sitting on chairs (your feet don't reach the floor!) or milking animals, etc.....! :)
I just tried it, both by blocking it at the firewall and also by disabling the network, and it worked fine with both methods for me.
I got money for scanning stuff, and it listed all the discoveries I have already made.
I am running NMS.exe directly. I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

Overlay stopped working after vulkan update. It kinda sucks since I used it to make screen-grabs of coordinates, fps and etc.

That is interesting because logic says it wouldn't work! I mean disanling the network means no internet! What it may be doing is saving all that data it is showing you for the next time you connect, then it will actually upload. At the moment, the game is just "pretending"! :)

That's likely the case. I've played offline many times and still got money for "uploads".

I'm bummed out that the much touted Nexus multiplayer aspect doesn't work for GOG. I'm not big on multiplayer but I'd like to give it a try.

Faust_3D: If you plan to play NMS MP in Beyond feel free to add me as a friend. I think it will be so much more fun with this new update.
Hope it's ok if I add you! :)

Go for it. I hope it works well. I did last night. Today people are reporting issues.
Building bases mission from Nexus is not really working well. Stuff does not snap in correctly and landing pads are completely broken.

How does that work?
I have a friend I would like to play with, but our Anomaly instances were different. We didn't see each other on there. Also, the invite button under network settings doesn't work. The Galaxy Overlay won't work, either... sooo... how does this work, exactly...?

Works well for me. I fly into Nexus and my friend is there. I can join their session or even just teleport to the base that I know their are on and see them. Need to make sure you are on the same version and play at the same time.

Just met someone in the Nexus, joined group, and flew out - but nothing. How do you leave together? Do you, at all? I couldn't see their base in the teleporter of a station.

You need to do a join mission.
A "Join Mission"? or a "Joined Mission"?
Can't you just visit each other's bases?

From the Nexus menu you both need to pick the same cooperative mission if you want to do one together. You can go to your fiends base if it's registered and if he is on the base at the same time you should see him. I did this lats night with 3 different people and worked for me on 2.06c and d.
Do you need a mission together first, before you can see each other's base? Can't you just freeplay?
