So mods don't work with the Gog version of NMS anymore. I like the ability to hover, but it looks like that is no longer possible.

That is false, NMS is exactly the same game between GOG and Steam, they use the same assets, the only difference is the SteamAPI usage.

Myself currently using and making MODs for the GOG version with no problems, not to mention the majorly of MODs haven't even been updated for Beyond yet.
If that's the case, why don't they work when I use the same Mods, in the same way as I did before. Man, i wish I had some clue why they don't work.
Whether its for steam version of the game, or the gog version of the game, a lot of mods need to be re-done to work correctly with the beyond update, whether its due to VR, or Vulkan, or simply the scripts need to be taken from the game because they have changed so much and re-modified .. Mods need to be made compatible with beyond.

Mod authors may be wisely holding off on updating, because Hellogames are still doing tons of fixes after beyond which may mean any mod updates would pretty quickly need yet another update to keep up with the changes.

Yeah, seconded. Pretty sure it's because of the new version, mods are just incompatible right now.
Or did you install and confirm mods working for the same version number Steam version...?

Cause the MODs you using are outdated, which is the reason I been making MODs myself, as very few authors spend time updating their files.

Honestly there's no reason to hold back, none of the recent patches and/or hotfixes touch the assets, they focused on libraries and the game main exe (both of which don't affect MODs whasoever).

Currently the MBINCompiler is still being updated for Beyond though, making good progress and we can already MOD a good chunk of assets again.

Amazing change in story, you went from everything is fine, all the old mods work. To "Currently the MBINCompiler is still being updated for Beyond though"
The Mod I want most is still just a brick.

The game has recently recieved a large update, I will take some time for the mods to catchup. This has nothing to do with it being the gog or steam version of the game.
Hello Games really messed up with modding in NMS. They made it extremely cumbersome for third party modders, in part due to Sean's own uncertainties over allowing modding in the first place (he is on record in some interview talking about this).

So not only do we (i still count myself as one, even if i have not looked at doing any NMS mods for a while now) have to use user created tools to even be able to mod the game, but each and every update and patch we often need to rebuild the mods from scratch to make them work with the latest current version.

So that is probably what you are seeing OP.

Off course it 'might' also be an issue if you try to use Steam Workshop mods on the GOG version of the game? (Are there any of those currently?).

But in general the stuff in my stickied post still mostly works. Check the Nexus site (and the other one) and just look for mods that have been made compatible for the version you are running. Last time i checked (a few years back now!) that mod with the ability to hover was often broken, mostly due to either the original modder giving up or whomever had taken it over not able to work it as well, or just that it was not quickly being kept upto date with the speed of patch releases etc.

OP, if you have not worked it out yet, NMS is a game about eternal patience! It's trying to teach us something about that i think! ;)

Never did I stated once old MODs work, is clear you trolling at this point and just trying to cause unnecessary flame.

Plus my message was pretty clear, the Beyond update broke some MODs due to being a major update, however all the hotfixes and patches that have been released after that don't affect MODs that work on v2.04 (Beyond).

misscrabtree is a very abrasive poster. tends to talk to people like crap. I wouldn`t respond, you won`t get a thankyou. Best to leave her to grumble alone.

So [people don't learn anything] anymore. I like the ability [to talk to respectful people], but it looks like that is no longer possible.
