I've relauched the game just now, all my bindings are gone, and I can't re-do them, Well, I guess I'll have to wait...

There's a post in the r/NoMansSkyTheGame subreddit for the Experimental Branch today. "Enabled key rebinding" so it's on the way. Any Beta channel users here tried this yet?

Just load up the Experimental Branch in Galaxy, and away we go....;) Seems to be working here! Very nice. I even like the sounds it makes when you hold down the key long enough to finalize the key rebind!

It's working now!

Yes, indeed, the GOG experimental branch appears to have key rebind all setup now! I actually like the way they did it, too....;) I sent them the bug report yesterday, got an acknowledgement from them this morning--and lo and behold, now it's fixed! Good Job, HG!

Yes and I made a post in another thread about problems. Short version is:

1. If your key reassignment appears as lower case in the key bindings screens, remap it or it will not work. No need to use uppercase.

2. Even if remapped, right-click will still launch secondary weapon possibly resulting in accidental suicide. Appears that this is hard-coded.

3. Also "F" is still borked or perhaps intentionally disabled. It used to be that "F" was hard-coded as a command to confirm an action such as deleting something when in the build menu.


P.S. Each main grouping of activities such as Flight, On Foot, Exocraft, is a separate Tab in the key binding menu.
It looks like key binding is fixed in the latest update.

Drat! Moving the grenade to the middle mouse button was a lifesaver in NEXT. Keeping the personal shield active by default (instead of the death grenade) is an option, I guess.

It isn't here on GOG yet because of the time zone differences but there is an experimental update with a lot of fixes coming out including the suicide prevention change.

Are you running the latest update? I have finally pulled the trigger and am trying out 2.09.1_BEYOND_52021. Some issues and I'm only risking my Creative save for now but mostly harmless.

In particular, the keyboard controls remapping is functional. Make sure that you bind an upper case and not a lower case letter. The key needs to have a box around it, indicating upper case; if it doesn't have a box then it won't be recognized. Once the upper case value is bound, then both upper and lower case keys work.

PSA: In their wisdom, HG bound the X key as the Delete Entry key on the control remapping screen. Why they didn't use, for a wild example, the Delete key for this is yet another mystery. Regardless, it is possible to bind X. Assign an unused character, for example /, to the target function. Backup and then edit TKGAMESETTINGS.MXML and locate that function. Change the bound key to KeyX. Save and done.
