2d 23h ? I thought the release date is 10/08/16 and not 12th?
9th in usa cause they cry like little babies if they don't have everything first and 10th for Europe.
Was it bushed back again?
9th is PS4 in the US,

10th is PS4 for everyone else because depsite being UK devs there's some nonsense happening.

12th is global PC because sony put in a lot of money and expected to get some kind of exclusivity as a result. Thankfully they didnt try and pull a microsoft and tie the game down for a whole month or more (recent tombraider)

Those dates have been known for a while now. At least since the idiotic sky lawsuit that caused a release delay was dealt with.
Thanks for info, Didn't know about the dates.
Game was pushed back so many tames that few days more won't make a difference but I was a bit surprised :)
I'm just sad that means a noon release. I took a half day thursday and all of friday off anticipating a midnight release of some kind. ;_;
Given the sheer volume of hype the game has built up a midnight launch was what a lot of folks were expecting but since the devs are self publishing on PC they have gone with the more standard 6pm uk time.

Odd thing is that means its 6pm on a friday so they're potentially facing a weekend at the office rather than at home.
So this is already out in the US PS4 network then ? I guess there will be a stack of youtube lets plays there yes ?

Either way, people can see some gameplay before buying the PC version if they choose to I guess as well as reviews. To be honest I am eager to hear some negative points.........don't get me wrong, it is just for "balance" and to avoid the "group think" thing :)

[EDIT:Yep they are up there on youtube]

GoG forums strike again I cannot create a new thread. I wanted to put this up, couldn't so I put it here :)

Found this good short review on youtube. Only a tiny spoiler so if you want to avoid that stop before 3m45s it is when they talk about communicating with aliens.

They do confirm something I and many others are fearing. After you do 10 or so planets it all gets a bit repetitive. They said there is not enough diversity with the life and just feels like "another cave" or another world that is similar to others.

It is a good balanced review as I was keen on hearing some negative comments about it as well for balance.

Could be worse. For Aussies like me it's dropping in the wee hours of Saturday morning, when only stoner uni students are still awake, so downloading for most of us won't start until we get up on Saturday. So a chunk of our Saturday will go in downloads alone. We will have less weekend time with the game than everyone else so... don't complain ;)

Well this way yes you get bored fast and seems all repetitive majority will see maybe 10 of planet or less because rush rush rush.

My condolences. I would be the cat staying up late enough to hit the download button then sleep until I'm sure it's done and play. /how-to-hardcore-while-actually-being-casual-stop-thinking-you're-young-already-cat

I will probably stay on the first planet for a long long time.

From what I understand, the closer you get to the center of the galaxy, the more diversity can occur. Considering how many planets there are supposed to be, and even if they were going in a straight line to the galactic center, 10 planets on the fringe is a drop in the ocean.

They're probably expecting a game with a decent to large amount of action (things happening, not necessarily shooting things). From what little I've seen, this game seems to be a slow paced game; a slow leisurely stroll through a woods, stopping to enjoy the sights, smell flowers, etc.

Another analogy: Star Trek The Motion Picture isn't a bad movie, it's just quite slow. If you aren't in the mindset to enjoy that type of movie, you'd think it was boring (or bad) too.

From what little I've seen, No Man's Sky seems primarily about exploration. Whether exploring strange new worlds, or seeking out new life and new civilizations; it's about boldly going where no one has gone before... well, until you get to the center of the galaxy... and find God, and ask him what he needs with a starship. :P

I agree.

Actually glad you meantioned ST:TMP (Star Trek The Motion Picture) I really love it. I don't mind the pacing at all. All the Enterprise Fly Bys I totally adored.

ST: V I only liked the camping bits. So the start and the end ;)

As Sean Murray says, it's a chill game so I will do just that. I would really like to see some stormy planets though. I'm sure they are out there.
