Oh I agree - and is pretty much what I have been saying in this thread. We basically do not know if it will be good or bad at this point, we will just have to wait and see. All we have at present is a little tid-bit of information and people making assumptions as to how the game will turn out.

That's why it would be a good idea to check out the livestream today - to get some facts as to how it will turn out.

There is precedent of bad results from this company, so I find it somewhat hard to decry the skepticism.

I do not know what is in it either, all I know is it's relating to the NWN EE. So we shall have to see.

I definitely won't be buying it. I have original NWN boxed from 2003 (I bought the week it came out), and I have the Diamond Box that I bought when that came out, and I have the GoG Diamond version as well.

From what's been posted here, Beamdog appears to be a fraud/scam company that only exists to swipe the IP rights to classic games and flip them for double the price.

It's one thing when the megacorporation publishers refuse to make another good game. At least we will always have the classics... until a Beamdog takes a crap on them. Someone needs to shut them down or something.

Is that even legal? Almost certain there's a law against selling other peoples' property with no permission. Or perhaps a bunch of angry gamers should get together and auction off Beamdog's office building/HQ with no permission.

-> How did they get away with that? Removing the original creators from the credits should at least be called out (and punished) as plagiarism. Furthermore, copyright law may require the original creators to be listed except if the IP rights are fully transferred over. Perhaps Bioware should have its lawyers review Beamdog's conduct in under applicable law.

Except that a tossed coin is random and has no memory, personality, or behavior patterns. Beamdog did this several times, no reason why they would stop.

Okay, so a poor analogy. Still doesn't mean that the majority of what has been said has not been conjecture.

I admit I do not know about all the previous games that Beamdog has remastered - and the surrounding controversy, but if anything it would surly make them want to fix previous mistakes and not fall into the trap again? Doesn't really matter at this point anyway, until more is known.

They got the permission to use the mods by the modders. Still...they are also taking credit for it.

They produced Siege of Dragonspear. An unwanted expansion pack to Baldur's Gate 1 that bridges the gap between the two games. The writing in it was so poor it looked like it was written by a 12 year old doing some fan-fiction. Completely railroaded plot with some massive plot-holes and lore-breaking events. Which, I suspect is what happens when the lead writer was more interested in preaching about feminism, gender-politics, and the like instead of writing a story that fit nicely in between the two BG games. She changed established characters (female ones) because she considered them sexist by 2015 standards. She even went on record telling BG fans that if they didn't like it when she changed the characters they had loved for 20 years "So be it".

The only "positive" thing I expect from this is the Linux version on GoG. I would much rather have had GoG take over storage of the Linux version when the Bioware servers were shut down, though. No way am I paying for NWN yet again, especially if the people who make money off of it have nearly nothing to do with its creation.

Wth is this low effort cash grab. I don't see the "enhanced" here at all. And why would you even bother to pay double, triple with DLCs if the vast majority, if not all, of the modules remain untouched anyway.

But i do share the concern of GOG.com once again facilitating this greed scheme by replacing Diamond Edition with this BS.

Hmm. So, if I’m reading this right, the “enhanced” features are:

- the user interface scales up to a 4K screen resolution
- the graphics engine now supports depth-of-field, pixel shaders and a few other post-processing effects

And… that’s it.

From the video I saw, the character and object models still have a very low polygon count with flat textures. Admittedly, it does look like they did a good job with most of the UI scaling (although the text font still looks very pixelated). But aside from a smoother UI, I’m very hard-pressed to see anything “enhanced” about this edition… aside from the price tag.

Well I watched the entire stream and they answered a lot of questions. I will do a write up of the important ones (and those I remember) tomorrow.

All in all though, it certainly made me much more confident that they will be doing a good job with it. I have to say I am really looking forward to it.

I can trade you a NWN Diamond code by the way;) or should I keep it? These things wll be valuable in the future:)

From the video, they did nothing to the UI. They only double size the UI on much higher resolutions. On 1080 it was stuck at current resolution.

So the live stream was basically them talking about what they are working on?
