I recently purchased realMYST, having played and loved the original. However, right when i launch the game, this message appears: "The program you are trying to run requires a current Indeo codec.
To obtain a current driver that is compatible with this version of Windows, please contact the manufacturer at http://indeo.ligos.com." I continued the game, and everything seemed to be working fine, until the video in the myst book at the beginning showed up as a blank white piece of, well, nothing. I decided to move on, and realized that I get the same issue when playing back Atrus's video to Cathrine in the holograph-thingy. I took a look at the indeo website, and apparently I have to pay 15 bucks for a current Indeo codec. Am I really stuck paying $15 to these people, or is there a way I can get this issue resolved for free? I'm on windows XP, by the way.

Hi,

If it's the indeo codec you need, you'll find a link to downloadt it (free) in this post.

Edit: Link was broken due to the new internal links format. It's fixed now.

I recently got realMyst for my Mac osX. But, when I try to install it, it tells me that I do not have enough privileges to install it. How do I fix this?
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit, when I start RealMyst it starts fine but when the game finally loads it hangs and crashes when I try to revolve my view to the left while still on the stairs.

Thanks

You likely need to run the game setup tool to change the settings.

Check this thread.
I've tried all of the settings and it still hangs when I attempt to look left at the doorway on the dock.

Changing the 3D Harware settings from "Direct3d T&L HAL" to "Direct3d HAL" usually fixes those lag issues. Make sure you're running the setup tool as Admin so that the changes you make to the settings are being saved.

If it still doesn't work at your end you should contact gog's support.

It's NOT solved, I still can't play the game past the first screen. If I attempt to turn right or left it freezes and crashes.
Open a new thread, hardly anyone read SOLVED ones.

Link's broken again, here's the new link to that post, and here's the link directly to the codec download that is in that post. In case both of those links become broken, the version of the Indeo codec linked to is 5.11.
