CheesusWept: New version is now available.
I can't launch the Windows version. I'm getting the error "File Find Error - olddat\kano!"
The DOS version works.

That is extremely odd. That looks like the Windows version was partially patched. The strange thing is, the Windows/DOS patches are applied at the same time. I don't think the patcher would ever try to use the executable from the GOG release; so I am at a loss as to went wonky. You could try uninstalling and make sure to install the game to the default directory. Some people have odd weirdness when they try to install on top of the GOG release.

New release is up with a fix to the scaling options.
So I own GOG's Mortal Kombat trilogy. The basic DOS versions. I installed the trilogy beforehand in GOG's default c:/games/mortal kombat X folders. I've tried applying the Kommunity Patch--butI get a pop-up that says "An error occurred while trying to read a required file. Make sure that the disc is in the drive. Then restart the install." Trying again does nothing, so all I can do is skip this file or abort. If I choose "skip this file," the rest of the installation supposedly goes smoothly.

But If I try running the shortcut for MKT Windows or MKT DOS I get the same pop-up error "MGL Fatal Error, Game Files Missing!" and it won't run.

Any ideas / help?

Just curious, but do you have:

https://www.gog.com/en/game/mortal_kombat_123
or
https://www.gog.com/en/game/mortal_kombat_trilogy

As they're not the same game. This patch is for trilogy, which I understand is based off the Mortal Kombat 3 engine but uses all the characters from the first 3 games.

That would explain why it wouldn't work, I have the 1/2/3 package. Oh well. Thanks.

I'm having issues with the scaling options in the Windows versions of the latest 3.41 patch release. I'm selecting pixel-perfect during installation, but I'm still getting a bilinear filter. I tried editing this manually in dgvoodoo.conf, but it's already set to "pointsampled," and editing it further doesn't have any effect.

Interestingly, the custom DirectInput and XInput patch versions both have this issue, but the GOG DirectInput & DirectDraw version installs and works as expected.

I know I'm late, but I have the exact same issue. Can't get rid of the bilinear filter either. Did you fix it?

Afraid not after quite a bit of testing. Sorry you're in the same boat, but I guess the more prevalent of an issue it is, the better chance we have for a fix down the road.

Beyond that, I'd love for an additional "pixel-perfect + scanlines" filter option to be added in a future update.

If it helps, I managed to get it to look as crisp as possible with no bilinear filtering by upscaling it. Here's what I have set on dgVoodoo2, on the DirectX tab. On the "General" tab, I have it on "Scaling Mode: Streched, 4:3 aspect ratio" but the important part it's on the DirectX tab as described in the picture below.

Hope it helps!

P.S. I have only tested it with the Kommunity Patch.

This definitely helped! I downloaded and dropped dVooodoo2 into my game folder and applied the settings in your screenshot -- everything looks just as it should now.

On a semi-related note, ReShade works with this as well if you select DirectX 9 during installation. This should enable the use of CRT filters for scanlines.

Lastly: Assuming you're *the* Master Linkuei, thank you for yet another contribution that allows fans like me to get even more enjoyment out of this klassic series. I seriously love MK1 and 2 Arcade Edition.

Lol I'm not "that" Master Lin Kuei, although I have to say that I've been using this nickname since 2006 or 7 in a spanish Mortal Kombat forum and Xbox Live (and now Steam).

Glad it worked out, now I just wish we could get the music to behave exactly as it should between rounds and have the "final of round" music for every stage. It's a very long shot, but then again, I've seen people do cool stuff I'm looking at "UMK3 Ultimate Cup Edition").
Hi everybody. I’m running the Kommunity patch now and have no problems with controller support, etc. However, when I enable the corporate intros (which include the title screen), the Windows version just zips through them at a ridiculously fast speed. Is there a way to slow them down? Also, are there benefits to playing the Windows version over the Dos version?
I can't be sure it's the same issue, but when I had the zippy intro I fixed it when I noticed a graphics driver needed updating. It had worked fine previously, but an interim update must have bust it.

As for Windows v DOS, the only differences that spring to mind are:
- WIndows has a Network Play option.
- When you hold the buttons to play as Chameleon it'll work from round 1 on Windows, but not until round 2 (upon trying it again) with the DOS version.
