I'm just wondering if these are ACTUALLY the arcade versions of the game. Judging by the posted screenshots, I would have to say no. I don't have a lot of experience with Mortal Kombat, but I am in the midst of setting up a MAME cab with an authentic CRT arcade monitor and drivers that output native resolution, and these versions look more akin to the SNES/Genesis than arcade. There seems to be noticeable detail missing.

Probably still a great collection to add to your library, and I may do so simply for comparison sake, but I doubt it will recreate the arcade experience.

What are your thoughts? Especially if you have already purchased the game.

Regardless, I'm THRILLED that GOG.com is expanding their partnerships and beefing up their catalog. This is only good news for gamers and game developers.

I'll be buying them in couple hours and will update you if no one has.

If you are building a MAME cabinet it depends on how you are doing it. I am in the process of building my own as well and I am emulating lot of the 90's beat em ups. Better off getting the proper rom of the arcade unit.

They're not the arcade versions. Back in the 1990s, the MK games were ported to PC...with issues. Hopefully, GOG will tack on USB gamepad support. A 2D fighting game is going to suck pretty bad with mouse & keyboard.

It had gamepad support back in the day so the gog version would have it.
Are the graphics the same as the arcade version? How about the AI? Still dickish like in arcade?

I just figured it out. F1 is the "start" button. F10 goes into "options". In options, go to CONTROL1 and press right arrow to switch to "4 BUTTON JOYSTICK". I use a Logitech F310 set to Direct Input (it also has an Xinput feature), and it works pretty good.

There's no "high punch" though; the punch button seems to just be a basic punch with no "high" or "low" to it. Still pulls off special attacks that normally involve high punch just fine though.

The graphics are on par with the old SNES (16bit Super Nintendo) version.

I don't think there was high punch and low punch if you are talking about mk 1 off the top of my head. Finally bought the games but I am too busy atm to give them a strap. Will Give them a go tonight.

I've written this in the announcement thread, but I will say this here as well. PC ports were the closest thing to to the arcade versions that home systems got. They looked better, sounded better and were most faithful to originals. Only MK2 port had problems, but even then it was better than consoles.
And it works perfectly fine with a keyboard (unless the keyboard itself has ghosting problems).

Looks worse than Arcades but it's still much better than consoles.
A little comparison of MK1: link
(the framerate problems on the video are recording, not game problems)
Only MK2 looks much worse. A.I. has difficulty settings. From what I've seen the hardest one is arcade difficulty, but there are 4 others ;-).

HP, LP, HK, LK and block were there since MK1. MK3 added run. MK4 added step in/out. And then they stopped putting them on PC until MK9.

They may be remembering the Genesis versions, as they didn't differentiate between high punch and low punch with a button until MK3. You could plug in a 6 button Genesis controller all you wanted for MK 1 and 2, but you still had to be walking toward your enemy to be able to do a high punch (or crouching I guess, as there was no crouching punch, only uppercuts).

I had mk 1 on sega mega cd so that is why I don't remember there being hp and lp. Had mk2 on snes and mk3 on mega drive.
Is Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 included in the package as well?

No, there was no version of UMK3 on PC until Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. We can however expect MK Trilogy to show up here eventually.

Trilogy and MK4 being on here would kick ass.

And I'm glad gog went this way, I hate that arcade kollection with a passion.
