The game does appear to support glide via 3rd party extensions
Would reccomend Zeus's Nglide wrapper

install the package, then run the installed configurator to setup resolution, and a few other items

The matter is that with any hardware acceleration enabled the game crashes when the mission is finished, this is, when you come back to the main menu and the mini FMV tries to be shown. D3D has also glitches like garbled textures.

Anyways yesterday an updated version of the game triggered. I have Not tested right now, but maybe something has been changed in the GOG version wrapper. If not, the game is only playable in software mode.

M1 Tank Platoon 2 was a typical Glide API based game for Voodoo graphics cards. That's why it works best in Glide graphics mode.
But non-Voodoo cards don't support Glide. You need to install the nglide wrapper as recommended above to make modern GPUs Glide capable.

Yes mate, I am aware how it works. The matter is that in this game if you use Glide or D3D via wrapper, the game crashes when returning to the main menu after a mission as I explained above. It is a known issue.

For now The rerealease only supports software for a stable gameplay

lol Happschaetzu does a bit of "explaining the obvious" such was his reply to my thread

i just dont bother with teh glide option for m1tp2 and stick with software and use Dxwnd to get around the Emulateheap error that can ctd the game for me on startup

Then run the game on Linux with Wine. There it will work with 3D acceleration and texture filtering, which the software engine does not offer, by the way. I tested this many years ago with the retail version when I switched from Windows 9x to WinXP and it no longer ran under WinXP with 3d acceleration, but it did under Linux with Wine.

You two just expressed yourselves unclearly.
If you're talking about Direct3D and don't mention Glide, then I have to assume you haven't tried any Glide wrappers.

i have tried glide wrappers ofr m1 tank platoon many times over the years - Dgvoodoo2 and NGlide in particular, in fact years ago i was active on the nglide forums with trying to get a fix there, and Zeus had helped a bit but still the issue of the game crashing after a mission could not be fixed.

I haven't tried glide wrappers recently for the game but i havent heard of anyone having success. I am fine to stick with software mode for m1tp2 frankly nowadays

and i dont really care to want to setup linux just to run glide mode. sure glide looks great but its not a big enough deal to go to all that trouble.
