Baggins: Ironically, the SVGA version actually runs better than the VGA version in Dosbox! It's more fluid, the vga runs a bit slow and choppy. Might have something to do with the improved animation in the SVGA version, but it runs smooth.
tfishell: Your experience may not have been the experiences on the ~40 computers GOG tests on, unfortunately. That's probably a silly thing to say, but say it I must. ;)
Ok, I admit I'm running on an Alienware M11x Revision 3. It is probably overkill for Larry 6...
I could try testing on my older Dell XPS Studio 16... It's not nearly as good a machine :p...
But I can't see why it would run much different than KQ7 or SQ6, or PQ5, GK2, Phantas/Phantas 2, as those games all use the same version of SCI, and VESA/SVGA mode :p...
Note: Larry 7 also uses the same version of SCI as those games, but I don't have my copy around to test it in dosbox.
Then again we are still back to the question, why they aren't using Dosbox for these games in general, since it still runs faster than scumvm for most Sierra SCI games. If they want the games to work the best for the most number of computers.
Also in anycase they shouldn't be stripping out files, especially only 16 mb worth... That's hardly a drop in the download bucket...
Edit: It turns out LSL6 SVGA/VESA runs just as amazingly on the other computer as well... No hicckups, no problems at all...
Maybe I should attempt to test it on one of the old school computers at my university... Hmm? Those things are much more oudated...
My theory is they tried to get it to run in SCUMMVM it didn't work, and they didn't go beyond that.
