I'm not going to give steam any money, in a few years they can remove my game and I can't do nothing and lose it forever. I will wait for the gog version
Would like to know the price of the Gold Edition here. Need to put some money aside for it. Really looking forward to it but can wait. I can reason out why there needs to be a significant lead time before a GOG release. I fear too many people already wish GOG and platforms like it did not exist and may have plans in the works to make that happen. I am praying hard that they fail. Have a backlog of other games to play in the meantime.

the price will be similar with the other marketplaces.

obviously the reason for the delay is piracy, having this buffer where the game works only with drm allows them to force some people to not pirate the game.

they are not many, no gamer wants less flexibility or more drm on their games, just the usual rich hoarders that want to steal everything, they don't even want to sell a product and make money out of it, they want to get the money without providing nothing. there is a huge market in the future where if you don't have access to your games, they can just sell them to you all over again. Recently EA just released the Sims 1 and 2 behind a hefty price just because people can't make their old versions work on modern systems. There may be a small minority that will want to buy those games to experience them for the first time but lets be honest, is people that played those games in the past that will pay for them all over again. Just look at gog, I can get back into games that I've played back in the day, I can accept their "flaws" but is hard to impossible for me to play games I have no history with. Those games I've never experienced that I can play without going mad are very few.

yeap, a few years ago I've learned the lesson to not chase the hype. the first kingdom game was not so great when it was released, but after a while with the dlcs and the graphic updates and the sounds and the patches, when I've finally played I've enjoy it as it deserved.
It's been several days since the steam release now. But when I can't play in week 1, then I can also wait until the first time the game is on sale with a steep discount here on gog. With any luck, it'll have the first couple of patches by then as well.

Heck, if they'd done a nice pre-order with a couple of goodies in order to support the devs, maybe I'd have put some money on the table. But getting nothing but an indefinite waiting time...

Don't know if that's the outcome Warhorse Studios planned.

The first game was late too!

I do not recall, maybe. That's why I bought it here in a sale months and months after release. As I said, if that's Warhorse Studio's product managers' desired outcome instead of me and possibly other paying full price, so be it.

gbrahah: an exclusivity deal with valve LOL. no dude, they're delaying the DRM-free release purely because it would make it incredibly easy for people to reupload their game through torrents. this way, they entice a little bit more people to pay for their game, instead of day one, hour one, their game is all over the internet
avatar
KobraPL: That seems false, considering the game is already available on torrents.
It's in practice nonsense, but described reasoning is probably indeed what's causing it. It doesn't make the reasoning right but same invalid reasoning makes a lot of video not available DRM-free despite it being torrented all the time anyway.

Basically I'd guess studio are doing it just to make publisher less annoyed, not because they really want it.

I'd buy the game once it will come out on GOG. Reviews seem to be generally positive.

The've said, that the aim is for a release one month after the Steam release. That's in one week, but there hasn't been any news comming from GOG.
I really consider getting myself a cheap key on one of the alternative sites, if they don't come up with a relese date today. I am getting spoilered left and right in my timelines and I hate it.

I strongly advise that you do because having played for over 50 hours on Steam without ever setting foot on the city of Kuttenberg at the time of writing, I can safely say KCD2 is worth purchasing twice.
It's already spring! GOG, at least give me some feedback. Please make for GOG client pre-orders, specify the release date. I am very upset with this attitude towards your clients and audience.

This is not a GoG decision, but 1000% a publisher (Plaion) decision. Complain to them.
Chill guys, doesn't hurt to start with some patches
Hooray!
We got a date!
28th of March.

Well....
Still no info about if GoG users will be able to "pre-order" the game.
It looks like, that GoG customers are (yet again) getting punished by Publishers, just because we don't buy on Steam; We're missing out on content.
