Skeet8385: Hi guys. My laptop is running Windows 11 64-bit OS. Unable to launch game (Jade Empire SE). I tried to launch through GOG, Jade Empire Launcher in game directory, and even tried through the game EXE itself. When I try to launch, it seems cursor is locked in a little invisible window. I also can't get the JadeEmpireConfig Utility to run, keeps crashing when gathering system info. Sometimes the green bar fills a bit, sometimes it doesn't. Help greatly appreciated :)
AgX_28: Same with me... this also happened with the game: "The Saboteur" both on EA app and GOG it simply doesn't work...and I'm so sad about it.
This was a problem w/ NWN2 w/ the cursor problem. Try running in Windowed Mode or forcing that, if you can. Remember, Jade Empire's on the SAME engine as NWN2.
Also, Windowed-mode can help LOTS of old-games, in which Exclusive Full-screen Mode got broken in W8-11 for old-games - think Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, Space Siege, Deus Ex Invisible War, Fallout 3, and Fallout NV.
Also, a lot of Windows 7 and below games have issues on W8-11. Always have your bag of tools ready; I got mine.
1. DX Wrappers - DXVK, DGVoodoo2, DXWnd, etc; have 'em ready, if you got issues. You might need 'em.
Windows 8-11 are DX10-12 based, not DX1-9 based. Jade's on DX9 - so, expect problems. Could need a wrapper to solve DX calls issues.
2. Process Lasso - Need to set Affinity for app's and games specifically with profiles for those app's for specific core to be used and hut the others down for a time period? Use that.
3. BorderLess Gaming (BLG) or any app's like it - Have to run a game in Windowed-mode mode, but you want to use a Fake Full-screen? Use this.
I can mess around w/ Jade on W10 and 11, as I have the GOG version there.
EDIT - 02-17-2025:
My specs on my laptop - W11, R5 5600H, 16gb RAM 6gb RTX 3060 (laptop-GPU), 1tb SSD. Yeah, it booted no problem from GOG version from Galaxy. Also used Pixieto's Patch to fix the game's stretched-problem. So, yeah; worked "out-the-box".
Didn't use any Process Lasso, BLG, DX wrappers, LossLess Scaling, or anything of that sort.
