lothar69: Torture is actually one of the reasons I bought this game. I thought it was cool that they touched a subject that would generally be taboo here in the states. No, it's not because I'm some demented sadist. Personally I have a distaste for which hunts and inquisitions (and for that matter hardcore fanaticism). So why would I play a game with such a back drop? To be a inquisitor that doesn't throw around false accusations or take a dogmatic approach to every case of heresy. This is after all an RPG.
It's pretty much universal that rpg's give you the opportunity to follow your own morale compass or not if you for some reason feel like coloring outside the lines.
There may be times when you are pigeon holed into things, like torture, but at least it's not trivializing it or making it obsessively graphic.
The torture thing actually drew me in as well, not so much because I wanted to torture people but just because it meant the game would likely have mature/adult themes which is very, very rare in games these days.
