Version 1.01a (2015-03-10)
[PC] Fixed an issue where the game would not start up if the Windows username contained cyrillic characers
^^ can't play due to that bug. I've already opened a support ticket and I hope that hotfixes will be delivered soon.
You can create another user with latin name and then "runas /user:UserName Path/To/HM2".
Yeah, seems like it works using that method, thanks.
I tried to create thread but I can't because of some error.

Steam version has been updated six times so far. If I'm right, GOG has received no patches.

It's likely the people at GOG already got the patches, or some of them, at least, but the GOG patching process, being manual, and all, takes a bit longer than on Steam, where everything is automated.

On Steam it's all done by machines and there's no quality assurance whatsoever, the publishers or the devs simply upload the patches and Steam automatically installs them, whereas on GOG the publishers/developers of the game have to send them the patch, then the QA team at GOG does their job of testing the patch, then they need to wrap it into their proprietary GOG installer and only then do they upload the patches onto everyone's game shelf. It's a more morose process because there's actually people doing it, and people need to sleep and rest and have lives, so the nice folk at GOG.com have working hours, they're not always there 24/7 at our beck and call.

I understand why a lot of users would prefer Steam's quicker, more "convenient" automated patching process, but, for me, there's an inherent sense of assurance by knowing my games are being tested by a team of incredible people that makes me certain I'm getting the better end of the deal, even if I have to wait a bit longer than on Steam to get the games or the patches.

Sorry, I didn't know that GOG actively tests patches and ensures that they are working. My apologies to the team.
I don't prefer Steam.

No worries, and a small heads-up, since me giving this information on another thread apparently annoyed someone: I don't know *for sure* this is how it happens, I'm just trying to see things from GOG's perspective, and, furthermore, GOG staff on these forums have said that's how they do it, over the years.

Whether you decide to believe what they say is true or not, it's your prerogative.
Looks like the patches keep coming on Steam. I hope they arrive for the GOG version soon :<

wheeeeee :))))
Steam already has version 1.01g and GOG is still sitting on 1.01?
I am sorry, but this update policy is abysmal!
I don't know if it's the developer's fault who do not provide the patches to GOG in time or GOG's fault who check each update manually first (as indicated above).

If it's the latter, what's the point? GOG checks whether the update does not break a broken game? And if the update finally comes, what am I supposed to do? Check manually for the update and download the full 600 MB again? Yay, welcome to 2015!

But honestly, I don't even care. HM2 is unplayable on Mac since release three days ago and I am pissed beyond repair. I have ordered a refund now and maybe I will grab the game at a -90% Steam sale someday.

This was my first and last preorder at GOG. GOG is fine for old games and they do a great job here, but they obviously do not provide the required infrastructure for contemporary games where developers - sadly - rely on Day 1 patches etc.
I would be happy if someone in charge here would at least give us a headsup, shouldn´t be too much to ask for I think.

Please don't, asking a refund for no reason hurts GOG.com. Bank transactions aren't free.
Don't preorder, ever.

for no reason? having bought something that does not work and then being ignored for days does not sound like "no reason" to me.

I would guess it's the dev's fault (they have focused on fixing the Steam version first) not GOG's...

The Windows and Linux versions are up to date so please re-download the installer for your OS. Will flag them later as I am still waiting on the final Mac version to get ready to be uploaded.
