SnowGabe: I tried to create thread but I can't because of some error.
Steam version has been updated six times so far. If I'm right, GOG has received no patches.
It's likely the people at GOG already got the patches, or some of them, at least, but the GOG patching process, being manual, and all, takes a bit longer than on Steam, where everything is automated.
On Steam it's all done by machines and there's no quality assurance whatsoever, the publishers or the devs simply upload the patches and Steam automatically installs them, whereas on GOG the publishers/developers of the game have to send them the patch, then the QA team at GOG does their job of testing the patch, then they need to wrap it into their proprietary GOG installer and only then do they upload the patches onto everyone's game shelf. It's a more morose process because there's actually people doing it, and people need to sleep and rest and have lives, so the nice folk at GOG.com have working hours, they're not always there 24/7 at our beck and call.
I understand why a lot of users would prefer Steam's quicker, more "convenient" automated patching process, but, for me, there's an inherent sense of assurance by knowing my games are being tested by a team of incredible people that makes me certain I'm getting the better end of the deal, even if I have to wait a bit longer than on Steam to get the games or the patches.
