I doubt this is going to be read by Runic but hopefully somebody out there can kill my curiosity & tell me why the GoG version doesn't have achievements?
If you look in your save folder, there's a file achievements.ach, so maybe they will be added later.
I am wondering too if this game will get achievements added to it.

I know this sounds a little pathetic, but I am more inclined to purchase a game if it has achievements...
But... Getting Stories bundled in with the game is enough of a selling point, I suppose! :)

usually achievements don't really bother me that much but in a game like Hob i think they would be useful as some way to keep track of progress...maybe?! & yea Stories is a great game really enjoyed playing it.

Dev said on Discord about achievements: "possibly in a patch later", but that was the whole reply.
Hi all,

I just visited the forum because I wondered why there are no achievements.

I know the Steam Version does have achievements and they even supply patches fixing them.

I agree they would be very very helpful here - 37 Achievements on Steam - so why not here.

To be honest, the whole lack of Information here is a bit .****.... in my point of view.

I think the devs should have enough ressources to be able to post patch notes etc. here as well - so noone should have to visit to the steam forums for information or help.

Best regards

Critney

oh well thats something but possible/possibly is devs way of saying very unlikely!

I agree with you on this but with the bulk of Hob owners playing on Steam it makes sense why they concentrate all their time over on the Steam forums saying that i still expect some sort of input on the Hob GoG forum, either from Runic themselves or by a member of the GoG team.

I have to disagree with this. I simply think that this is a mistake many devs are making. They publish their game on several platforms but they concentrate on one only (mostly steam) when it comes to updates and support. There is a reason some people do prefer GOG over steam so I would say it's enough reason for devs to finally realize that they get money from the GOG customers as well. In addition: if they already answered specific questions on steam it would take them SECONDS to copy paste at least those informations here in one FAQ thread as well. So no, imo the excuse of developers always saying "people do mostly play on steam so we are here" imo is not acceptable at all! If I want to contact the devs I have to use Steam, Facebook, Twitter and e-mail because it is important for me - they are just lazy covering one platform only even though they don't mind the money they are getting from GOG customers as well.

This of course is a general statement not only adressed to runic games.
I second Marko's opinion.

On the 30th of September I asked at the steam forum:

Dear Devs,

over at GoG - where you sell Hob also and which too has it's own Forum for Hobs lacks any informatrion.

It would be charming, if you could post your information regarding Patches and Issues there as well for your customers.

Thank you

and got the following answer:

I'll look into it!

---------------
well...

Customers here do have to help themselves or visit a different store to get help? Well, this leaves a somewhat bad taste.. not only for this dev team, but for others acting like that as well of course.

Best wishes

It's sad and infuriating how devs treat GOG customers as second class...

Wow! 4 words. This must have cost them hours of worktime ;) I mean Hob is a great game and I had hours of fun playing it (even without Achievements) and still have some things that I have not found yet. But a good game alone does not assure the customer that he is treated well by the devs and that he (or she) does not have to worry about future updates and support. So sad that some devs simply don't understand this simple truth: be nice to your customers and you will be rewarded for it. I give you an example: I recently (well one year ago) backed the point and click adventure "Gibbous A Cthulhu Adventure" from the newcomer studio Stuck In Attic. I simply backed $15 which is all I needed to get the game for a good price. Then I found out how nice those people are and how they try to do the best for every customer (they also plan to be on GOG when the game is out so I made a wishlist for this as well). In the end I backed over $80 not just because I wanted all those additional goodies but I also wanted to support such nice devs. Like I said, the product is only half the thing they are selling here - they are also selling themselves as good, honest and caring developers. For now we can say that we are worth "4 words" - hopefully this is just the beginning.

Hi OP! Brian from Runic here. It's a feature that didn't make it to release, but it is a wishlist item. No promises at the moment!
Good to know. Have only just started playing, but your game definitely has a cool start! I'll look forward to the possibility of achievements : )

Hey Brian thanks for the reply, if it's on a wishlist i guess that means at some point it has or will be discussed & possibly added later down the line. Also i do hope some sort of New Game+ is on the wishlist ;p
