Galaxy_Stranger: Hey, I think something is applying some sort of filter to make the image prettier. It comes out blurry.
Does anybody know how to turn any image filtering off for HOMM II?
In the dosbox config you can try changing the scaler to something like normal3x and/or the renderer (ddraw, opengl, overlay) to see if there is any difference. But the effect depends of your native resolution. the game is svga 640x480 so normal3x could be three times the game res. Also you can choose any other flter instead of normal, but personally I dislike them.
For example, In vga games (320x200) normal3x outputs to 960x600 and in a 1366x768 monitor resolution results in a reasonably crispier image.
EDIT: also, is convenient change the fullscreen resolution option to "desktop" or "0x0" in the same config.
If you do not want to edit files with the notepad you can find a gog configurator into the game folder to change any of those options.
