That religion thing is starting to sound a lot better.
Stuff: hehe, seems to be over my head as well . . . =)
Everything I find on that CPU indicates that it is
a single core CPU. Maybe there are versions that are dual core so I will post the reason I was asking.
For dual core AMD's you can download the
AMD Dual Core Optimizer for XP and Vista.
It should not be used on Intel systems or with Windows 7 ( I understand the functions are built into Win 7 already). Read the description on the DL page for explanation of what it does.
I had a problem with Painkiller Black video stutter on my Vista laptop which has a Turion 64 x2 CPU. Installing this optimizer fixed the problem for me so I was going to recommend that Profanity give it a try as a last resort. It does nothing for single core CPU's so . . . don't bother to install it on a single core system.
Anyway, you install it by double clicking the setup file. It installs and has no interface at all, just reboot and it loads as a start-up file after install.. I saw an immediate difference in the Painkiller game video but it may not help all games. If it doesn't help or you just want to remove it, go to control panel, Add / Remove programs and you will find it listed there. Remove as you normally would.
I installed it a couple of years ago and have mostly forgotten it's there. I may be helping with other games I've installed as well. If your XP system is an AMD dual core it may with the crashes?? Make sure you have a dual core though. . . . =)
Stuff: If your system does have a dual core CPU you might give the above a try . . . =)
Teach me to go on memory - mine is a 3800+ which is dual. My bad.
