It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Stuff: I believe that is a single core processor so forget the affinity setting that I mentioned.

My only other suggestion would be to check your directX 9 version and if it's not the latest download the last release and install to make sure you are using the latest version of directX.

To see your version number, click Start, enter dxdiag in the Run field and press enter. Give it a moment to load and you should see the version. The last release of updated files was on 4/18/2011.
It's a dual.

I have pretty much the same system OS and all. Didn't have that problem, though - just crashed a lot. Been hoping I could help but this is over my head.

hehe, seems to be over my head as well . . . =)

Everything I find on that CPU indicates that it is a single core CPU. Maybe there are versions that are dual core so I will post the reason I was asking.

For dual core AMD's you can download the AMD Dual Core Optimizer for XP and Vista. It should not be used on Intel systems or with Windows 7 ( I understand the functions are built into Win 7 already). Read the description on the DL page for explanation of what it does.

I had a problem with Painkiller Black video stutter on my Vista laptop which has a Turion 64 x2 CPU. Installing this optimizer fixed the problem for me so I was going to recommend that Profanity give it a try as a last resort. It does nothing for single core CPU's so . . . don't bother to install it on a single core system.

Anyway, you install it by double clicking the setup file. It installs and has no interface at all, just reboot and it loads as a start-up file after install.. I saw an immediate difference in the Painkiller game video but it may not help all games. If it doesn't help or you just want to remove it, go to control panel, Add / Remove programs and you will find it listed there. Remove as you normally would.

I installed it a couple of years ago and have mostly forgotten it's there. I may be helping with other games I've installed as well. If your XP system is an AMD dual core it may with the crashes?? Make sure you have a dual core though. . . . =)

If your system does have a dual core CPU you might give the above a try . . . =)

Mine's a single core. And the weird thing is, I've had turned on this game without a problem a few years ago, I had it on disk. I only played for 5 minutes back then, but I did play and it did work. I haven't changed anything in my computer at all.

I'm thinking it's a video problem, maybe a required shader version is no longer supported by your current driver . . . or something along that line?? In my travels, I will keep looking for similar problems with Gothic 2 and if I find a solution I will post it here. Maybe someone else will post a solution soon . . . =)
How many days have to pass before I should turn to religion?
Fucking hell!

1. It finally ran.
2. Got an error.
3. Found a simple fix.
4. Doesn't run again.

Oh come the hell on.

At last, got it to run on will!

Yet, I am being attacked by ANOTHER error right now: "[C:\ maximum texture size is lower than 32, possible reasons: wrong gfx driver setup (install other driver0, bad os state (try to reboot), or insufficient gfx hardware (buy better gfx card!)]"

'tis google time.

EDIT: Everything's running perfectly, thanks for the effort, mate!

Wow; for some reason I didn't expect that. Great! And good job "stuff".
