В моём старом институте к примеру преподавала дама, хорошо знала мат. анализ, была подстилкой под ректора за бабло и машину, вся намазанная косметикой, словно 10-летняя девочка, обнаружившая мамину косметичку :) Чем не lowlife/быдло?)

Even older women (~30-45 years old) prefer to be addressed as "devushka". Older doesn't mean old. "Devushka" derived from "дев" or "девственница", this particularity usually being lost during school/university years.

Though we rarely may call our girlfriend "моя лягушечка", but only in bed and without other witnesses. Among other names, I called my first girl "горгулька", but "gargoyle" is not that pleasant looking creature I must say ;)

We have a word "кубок" which is extremely close to yours "kubek" by sound. "Кубок" or "goblet" usually means a big metal cup (in some cases golden, silver), it can be encrusted with gem stones. In our folk stories and in Russian Empire history, cups were used by nobles for drinking wine. So it's a bit ancient and we don't use it.

"Чашка" derived from "чаша" or "čаšа" from pra-Slavic; or "сzаszа" in Polish.

Again it's a big goblet, can be made out of precious metals and gems. Many mentions in our folklore & fairy tales. We don't use "чаша".

We also have "кружка" which translate as "kubek".

We are part of the same family nonetheless. But we fought many wars against each other, we have different religion: Catholicisms vs. Orthodox and lastly we accommodated Cyrillic while you prefer to use Latin wording. That's why we'll never be friends on Government level. To my deepest regret of course. Because Poland in my opinion is the last bastion of Slavic people with good genes and rich folklore, for example in Wiedźmin we can find a variety of different creatures taken from Slavic myths and legends.

I don't think there are any trustworthy historical records of such a tradition actually existing. What is substantially more likely, is that both the cup and the skull come from a common root that meant something along the lines of a "vessel" or a "container."

Nope. First, девка = unmarried woman, баба = married woman. Virginity was a desirable but not an obligatory trait, and It was absolutely possible (though frowned upon) to be both unmarried and openly sexually active, in which case the девка was said to be spoiled ("порченая") or loose ("гулящая"). These days, девушка means "young woman" (though still carries a hint of "serving girl", "maid") and женщина is "woman" with a hint of "female" (learner note: there's another unrelated word for female animals, but the female gender is "женский", literally "womanly").

Second, it's immensely screwed up (I'd use another word over at the English GD) to address a woman according to her sexual history, because sexual history is a private matter; there's no criteria for what counts as losing virginity anyway (like, does nonpenetrative sex count? self-stimulation? lesbian sex? dildos? Hitachi Magic Wand? horse-riding? gymnastics? hygienic products? suppositories?); men aren't queried whether they've had a real girlfriend, I tell you, she lives in another state, or if they're still dating Rosie Palms; and seriously what's wrong with you people <.<

Third, cat ladies totally exist.

TL;DR policing people's preferred forms of address is messed up, as long as they're not a burden on you (e.g. "господин"). A woman's sexual life is between her and her gynaecologist. FWIW, I'd be all for phasing out [url=https://www.cs.virginia.edu/~evans/cs655/readings/purity.html]devushka[/url] altogether, except the Russian language lacks a politically neutral polite form of address, so it'll have to do for now.

При всём уважении к вам, странно слушать от нерусского человека о том, каково действительное значение русских слов)) Вохможно вы опирались на википедию, но таковые источники далеко не всегда соответствуют действительности (и зачастую составляются кабинетными учёными).

Что "мужик", что "баба", до сих пор используется среди грубого и невежественного люда, а также для обозначения его представителей. Девка - то же самое - обозначение молодой бабы среди этого люда.

Единственное, где сексуальная история находит своё отражение в обращении, так это в выражении "старая дева".
Heroine's Quest или нет, но вообще хотелось бы уже побольше новинок здесь :) Видимо из-за зимней распродажи откладывают релизы.
