Sure thing:
No. 5: Dungeon Keeper
- Your creatures are fighting amongst themselves! This soundbyte used to send me into a whirling panic. Still does, although as an adult I have become a much more efficient multi-tasker and thus can handle a little in-family tussle.
No. 4: Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
- Manages to infuse the oh-so-necessary Quicksave function, as well as multi-mudokon control and commands. The perfect sequel: it fixes everything wrong with the first game, without sacrificing anything that was good.
No. 3: Rollercoaster Tycooon
- Special to me because my Dad was really happy to see me playing this. Up until RCT, he just assumed that all videogames were hyper-violent trash with no lasting value. After showing him my yearly earnings report, he never seemed to mind me spending hours playing this game :)
No. 2: Beyond Good & Evil
- I like BG&E because it features a prominent female lead with no misogynistic direction. Sadly, that's a remarkable and rare occurrence in the world of video games. It's a wonderful exercise in adventure gaming, and does everything it sets out to do extremely well.
No. 1: Fallout
- I just don't think that a game world gets any better than the post-apocalyptic playground of Fallout. It was the first game I ever played where I really got the sense that I could do whatever I wanted, however I wanted to do it. Everything you encounter is interesting, and could be your death if you aren't careful.

1. Darkstone - freaking awesome game
2. Both Baldur's Gates
3. Icewind Dale
4. Stronghold
5. Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within and Stonekeep (sorry, they're both equally awesome)
I'm waiting for a client today and, if he pops up with the money he owes me, I promise I'll buy it tonight :)

Gazoinks: -Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: Yes, it's flawed. It's unbalanced, the combat is a bit "eh" (not bad, just not up to Fallout or the other cRPGs), and the Black Mountain Mines were conceived by Satan on a particularly grumpy day. But the world is great, the voice-acting (even if not all followers are voiced) is great, the choices are great, the story and villain are great, and the character creation/development system is probably my favorite of any RPG. Any game where you can play an Escaped Mental Patient Half-ogre, firing electricity at people with a Tesla Gun while wearing a bullet-deflecting top hat, is something special.
It's been on my 'must buy' list for ages. I'm waiting for a client today and, if he pops up with the money he owes me, I promise I'll buy it tonight :)
