i remember i had a series of 24 on dvd, and i'd often be watching it late at night. But I always forgot that before EVERY episode there was an incredibly loud anti-piracy ad... and it always scared the crap out of me. Nothing has ever made me want to torrent a tv series as much!

Shh... don't tell anyone this, but I torrent TV shows because if I didn't, I'd have to wait half a year while the TV channel would translate the show and put in Chinese subtitles and all that. I want to watch Castle now, dammit.

I have 3 seasons of 24 on DVD and I absolutely hate this ad. It's about 50% louder then the whole soundtrack. It almost gave me a heart attack once.
michaelleung I torrent them as well. Polish TV recently aired a big hit: 3-rd season of Lost. Pathetic. And besides I like to watch movies with original soundtrack, not translated.

I find it amazing that all of Europe except Scandinavia still does that with anything except cartoons. The only things I can bear to watched dubbed into Danish are cartoons and animated movies, which I'm forced to do since my son doesn't read well enough to follow subtitles yet. I still prefer them in English though. And I get twitches in my eye whenever I see a commercial that is obviously dubbed from German (usually cleaning products for some reason).

I watch all the movies I can online, only watching them in theaters when gf is in the mood to see some shitty chick flick. MMMMM...dinner is ready...

We get those dubbed ads as well, also for cleaning products (must be something mystic about them) but they're normally dubbed from american into an australian voice that's always 2-3 frames behind the vision

What's really special about Poland though is that we don't have dubbed movies (cartoons excluded) we use readers/lectors (don't know which word is correct). That's just horrible. You can barely hear original voices and music in the background, but what you hear loud and clear is emotionless voice of some guy reading the script. Torture.
That's why I never watch transleted movies and shows. I understand everything anyway, so I prefer them in original without subtitles.
