Climbing this mountain is actually one of my lifetime goals, but I've checked into it and tour plus tickets will run me 6000 dollars or so. I don't think I can swing that this year but I expect you'll take some pictures at the summit:)
It's good that you're taking the longer routes, they are much easier and more enjoyable I hear.
Runehamster: This is a fantastic idea. However, I have asthma and an irrational fear of heights (stepladders make me dizzy). I don't think this is exactly the charity for me. Is there one for falling into the Salt Sea instead?
This mountain climb isn't like climbing Everest, you shouldn't be climbing along any sheer faces. I think the last several hundred feet are shale, though, which is like treading through sand that can cut you up.
