carnival73: Too many polies, sparkle and attempted uber-ness take up too much space on DVDs that more game content could otherwise fit in.
Forget which movie that was but that chic at TGIF's who was constantly hassled for not weighing down her work shirt in sparkly buttons.
Either way I'd rather hang back with GoGs that will play for months on end on my rig rather than invest $700 for only a mere three hours of 'trying to be uber with all teh flash.'
I like graphics myself...not as the be-all-end-all mind you, but c'mon......people these days should have at least 1TB drives so space shouldn't be an issue, either for players or the companies making games. They could add more content, they just don't want to, and would rather you buy the new expansion they release instead.
And the movie is called Waiting.
Also I love older games as well, but some GOOD new games do come out, and upgrading does pay off if one wants to play said games to their full potential.
