I seem to have trouble getting the Steam version of Space Rangers 2 Reboot working so far, I think that's the biggest problem I found so far.

Steam in general seems to have some problems with Win 8. It is the only program that acts up more than before. Considering the shoddy underlay of Steam, no surprise there ...
I'm not trying to crap all over you're thread, but I don't see why everyone is so excited about yet another version of Windows. I grow tired of watching my game collection becoming obsolete with every new version of Windows. Frankly, GOG is finally catching up with Windows 7, now Ballmer and Co releases yet another version. Sheesh. I'm going to ride out Windows 7 like it was the Titanic (or until Microsoft stops officially supporting Win 7). This might be yet another bad version of Windows. I guess only time will tell.

Simple. Windows 8 pretty much is Windows 7 with a lot of added features and better performance.

Fair enough, Honestly, I haven't actually tried it. I guess the new interface has me a bit intimidated, I don't know why. I feel like Frankenstein (fire bad, rawr).

Just be aware that the much-vaunted "better performance" doesn't really mean better gaming performance. In that it is pretty much identical to Win7. So don't expect to see any sudden hike in fps rates in your games by switching from Win7 to Win8, if that's what you are hoping. :) But then, the gaming performance doesn't appear to be worse either.

Just clearing out the bullshit marketing talk, that's all. Like someone first claiming that no one has ever seen any backwards compatibility problems whatsoever with Win8, then a few messages later the same person has to admit that there are some after all. Uh oh.

Haven't had any particular problems with Steam so far, just this game. I guess I might run into others, will let you know :)

The games aren't a problem, they run flawlessly. It's the client itself. Luckily, due to the new taskmanager, it is easier to find the culprit and shut it down.

There's a possible solution to your problem here:

Yet that's the part I've had no problems with personally so far though, hope it stays that way ^^

timppu: ...
Performance is better. I've not benchmarked it myself, but people at Neowin seem to swear on even 10+ FPS increase in games like WoW and Minecraft. Crysis also receiving a boost of several FPS.

In the end, it depends on the configurations, I guess.

I haven't had any noticeable performance improvements in gaming (not that I would probably notice anyway as I don't use benchmark but "gut feeling" as in "do I like it or not").

But the whole OS itself feels waaay quicker and sleeker. Eg.boot up time is an a lot shorter.

Thanks for the link
One of the things that bothers me with Win 8 is the fact that you cannot put apps into windows. I like the new remote desktop app, but I liked having that screen on half of my monitor.
