CharlesGrey: Yeah, they really need to get off their asses and make an effort to revive all those classic Nintendo franchises. So much potential... :/

Well, hey, we already got Donkey Kong. Haven't played it yet, but it seems to be good, at least.

Darvond: Ah, Donkey Kong. Not for me. Tried to like, it really tried. Country's Controls are just too janky and I loathe Diddy. :V
Heh heh, I probably won't buy it either, but mostly because I have limited interest in colourful 3D Jump'n'Runs nowadays, and I'd rather get Super Mario 3D World. Seems to be a decent game, though.

I'd love to see them bring back the Pilot Wings series. Had so much fun with that back on the N64. Wheee!

Edit: Also, if only Rare were still around and developing for Nintendo. At least half of the "Classics" for the N64 were developed by them.

Rare is still around. They're known as Retro Studios. Its just that Nintendo had them make run and jump 2D platformers instead of letting them recapture the magic that made the studio what it was.

And they brought back Pilotwings, for the incredibly lacking Pilotwings Resort. :V

Last thing I know, they were developing for MS ( Perfect Dark, Viva Piñata, Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts -- for the most these were actually pretty good titles ), but apparently most of the original Rare staff wasn't even on the team any more. Haven't really heard about Retro studios. What games did they work on?

Haven't heard of Pilotwings Resort, either. Was that a download only title? ( Just checked -- it's a 3DS game? Don't have one, so that would explain why I haven't heard of it. )

Blast Corps was another brilliant and unique Rare N64 game. Don't know who holds the rights to that one, but I'd love to see them bring it back on the Wii U.
Retro Studios made the three Metroid Prime games, and also created Tropical Freeze. I really enjoyed the Metroid Prime games myself, and have wished that type of shooter was done on the PC. Alas, those games are confined to console controllers. As for Tropical Freeze, I hear that it is a pretty good addition to the Donkey Kong series.

Out of the three I'm looking forward to the WiiU the most. My first PS3 is just shy of two, so I wont be getting the new one for a few years or more. And I have no plans at all for the xbox.

There are allot of games I'd like to play on the wii u. Besides what's new... There are a bunch of older titles I never got play like the Mario RPG, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, & a few favs I want to try again. Whenever I do the feedback for nintendo I tell them GOG. Look at GOG. Bring as many classics as you can & some exciting new ones. Becuase there was allot I missed out on back then. Not to mention games that I can't play because my wii hates them like xenoblade chronicles.

They need to get Rare back from Microsoft, and destroy the world with a new Jet Force Gemini.
Is the wii U worth it?
It does look good for its first party line-up and It shoulddd get better.. Right? lol

No, the Wii-U is still 50 dollars or so too expensive. 200 USD is the magic number, and even then I'm awaiting content because GOG taught me to be cheap and Nintendo doesn't understand the concept of sales as the internet knows it. (Or the internet itself.)

Also, I'm one of those horrible people who think the Gamepad should be optional or dropped altogether.

I'm unsure how I feel about that gamepad myself.
It's not confusing, it just seems.. kiddish? lol I know, were talking about a wii.. but still!

I want to also love and embrace Nintendo, but there are only so many boneheaded decisions that can be made in a fiscal year that I can tolerate.

Another thing is that people associated it with the Wii, when its a seperate entity that just happens to look nearly the same. And yes, the UI is one of the many issues I have with NIntendo's systems. They're always a second slower than you'd expect them to be.

Watching the people at Video Games Awesome crack into the PS4 and watching how buttery the UI was and how it didn't treat you like an idiot and was quick and snappy was just an amazing revelation.

On the other hand, I think the Gamecube beats both the Wii and Wii-U UIs. And I don't mean by jumping right to the game, I mean the menu.
Okay, that gamecube menu when I first got the system... thattt blew my mind!

You make so many valid points. Nintendo just needs to listen to the people, really.

Oh, I've actually played the first Metroid Prime, even though the developer name did not ring a bell with me. I thought it was by a different studio... Anyhow, that's the kind of game the new Wii could use more of. Well crafted, unique, and catering to an older audience than most of the first party releases so far.

I do think so, but if you're not sure it's best to wait a bit longer. Not so much for a hardware price cut, but mostly to see how the software line-up develops. They really need some more good 3rd party exclusives, or some 1st party heavy hitters, such as a completely new Zelda game.

I'd say mostly they just need more games to really take advantage of the Wii U's unique controller and features, so it doesn't just feel like a tacked on gimmick. I remember many of the original Nintendo DS games felt like that too. And the same could be said about motion controls. That doesn't mean the feature itself is bad, but not many game developers manage to take advantage of it in meaningful and creative ways. So often it feels like the game would have worked just as well without it.

Yeah, I was planning on waiting awhile and plus I can't afford it at the moment anyways.
Personally, sadly, I'd say it's almost dead. Nintendo needs to scramble for some new technology quick.

Personally, I intend to get one in about a month or two. I already bought the limited edition version of the Zelda: Wind Waker re-release, and there's another half a dozen or so good games I'm interested in, some typical Nintendo games ( Mario 3D World, Pikmin ) as well as some more "adult audience" ones such as Zombie U, Deus Ex: HR and Watchdogs... oh, and maybe Monster Hunter. For me that's enough to justify the purchase of a Wii U ( plus, it's backward compatible, as a bonus ) but it's up to you and your own preferences. So far the games selection is still very limited.

Trouble is, it seems that even first and second party studios are having trouble coming up with good uses for it, such as the infamous horn button for MK8 and I hear that DKRTF didn't exactly put it to good use either.
