I feel like I read somewhere that GOG has been releasing more games than it used to.

It appears as though they release more "indie" over old, though I'm not sure if that is statistically accurate.

1. There aren't less older games appearing on GOG. This has been shown numerous times by simply listing the latest releases. I'm afraid that your thread title is spreading an unfounded rumor.

2. Your post restates things that are common knowledge here. I'm not quite sure why you had to ask a GOG official about these things, nor why you think that opening the umpteenth thread about this seemed like a good idea.

That said, I agree with your conclusion.

The ratio of new games to old games has been increasing substantially, which is why it feels that way. However, they're still releasing 1-3 old games each week, so it only FEELS like that. When I joined, it was 1 game on Tuesday and another on Thursday, and even then lots of games were post-2005. Now we generally get 2 on Tues, 2 on Thurs, and often extra releases at other times as well. Several of those are still old games. In the last week we've gotten Bioforge and Dangerous Dave.

So there aren't fewer older games, there are just more newer games.

Because they are trying to compete with the other Steamabes like Impulse and Gamersgate now, because a bunch of well-meaning idiots voted that they would like non Good Old Games on here, and more price points.

Funny, there havn't been any price points LESS than $5.99, and games still don't go on sale to the degree that they do on Steam.

I guess the real questions were:
1) "Will you pay more for games on Gog.com?"
2" Will you buy indy games on here for 1.5-3 times as much as elsewhere?"

You mean, will you buy DRM free indie games on here for 1.5-3 times as much as elsewhere. Yeah, you are paying more for some GOGs but they are DRM free.

That is an issue I'm starting to see more and more here. There are quite a few indie games that normally sell for $5 or less that we won't ever see here because GOG's baseline is $6. Prices higher are fine, but any lower and I guess they see it as cheapening a product.

Two examples that come to mind right away are WizOrb and the Breath of Death VII/Cthulhu Saves the World bundle. Both have a default price of about $3, and because of that, I doubt we will ever see them come here. I do wish GOG's opening of price points will truly open up for lower priced items, and not just higher ones someday.

I think most games that would sell for less than $5.99 end up being bundled together or not brought here at all. I know that you can get Dangerous Dave for less over at Flatrock Software, but only if you buy an individual episode, The better price is if you buy it in sets of 3 episodes.

Also, when you go below about $5 more and more of the sale goes to credit card processing fees making it less and less cost effective for them to sell and support.

Heck, I vaguely recall getting the former at around 2$ and after playing it for an hour, I can tell you that I overpaid.

I'm sure some people would consider 6$ a fair price for that game, it's just that they are very far on the right of the normal curve.

Sure, but don't ask me if I want "different" price points if you mean "higher". And don't ask me if I want "other types of games" if what you mean is "Do you want to pay more for indy games that have been discounted by 80-90% of the GOG list price elsewhere for several years now?".

I just hate the framing CDP used in that survey. In a Trojan-like move, they completely transformed GOG into something a great number of the respondents do not support, with their support.

I thought they meant price points between $5.99 and $9.99 and possibly above. I can't think of very many games that are good and that aren't worth even $5.99. Especially if you're getting goodies and compatibility fixes as well.

I think the surveys were sort of something to pin things on. I don't think there was any way of expanding like they have without losing focus on the older games. And plenty of the newer games couldn't be sold here for less than $9.99

They didn't ask for "different" price points in the survey. They asked if people wanted DRM-free _newer_ games on GOG, and _then_ they asked us how much such a DRM-free newer game should cost, after getting the usual GOG treatment (compatibility, adding extras, etc.). IIRC you could then either choose or enter a number, I think it was a free answer field.

There was never any confusion as to what these questions meant. In the forum thread about the survey, one of the very first responses clearly states:
"I like where the survey is going toward the end. More recent games that are DRM free at higher prices please. DO IT."

Or, another response: I wish they'd had a qualification for Day 1 releases. I wouldn't mind buying smaller games like Trine or Machinarium here on release, since they usually cost less, but I'm not going to pay more than $19.99 for any game..

The same thread also shows overwhelming support for exactly this direction (some skepticism too, of course, but mostly support, which is exactly what GOG reported as well).

I would ask you to stop spreading false information if I had any hope of you actually listening, but since that's very unlikely to be the case, I'll just leave this clarification here so that people who haven't participated in the survey won't fall for your ... false information.
