Well see there's your problem....you're viewing the film from the eye of an Academy judge(Oscars)...give it back to the poor bloke and watch it with a few dudes and some beer.

I did have friends around. Didn't help, that. About halfway through the movie we drew straws to choose who'd go out and buy another case of beer; the film was so terrible we had gone through the brew faster than expected. I hoped I'd draw the shortest straw so I could get out, have a few cigarettes, walk to a shop a very long way away and return after the movie ended. Unfortunately I didn't.

Look, the film has got some pretty rubbish reviews and there's a very good reason for that: it's shit.

Also reviews aren't always subjective...most are biased and alot of "critics" like to bash stuff rather than praise it to get more support and fans. Of course the opposite can also happen....just stating my point at any rate.

The movies have already gone irreversibly down the shitter.
Even though the quality of the games severely deteriorated after #3, there's no need to make them even worse.

I also liked RE4(never played 5).....I don't get why people dislike action horror games. It's not the same as the originals but fun in it's own way.

Because everything is action these days. If I want an action game, I can think of thousand that are infinitely better. I wouldn't called RE4 'horror' either. The horror in the originals came from the survival aspects. One zombie in RE was infinitely scarier than 50 in RE4.

Well if you have to survive something then by definition it is a survival game. Some are more "hardcore" than others though, obviously.

I never said horror was a subgenre of survival......I did however say that there can be survival action games.

I agree. They knew they had fucked up the moment they had an army of thousands of Alices, all of them with ESP. So what did they do? They killed them off and remove the original Alice's powers as a desperate attempt to "fix" the plot. That didn't save the last movie from being shittier than its predecessors though.
IMO RE4 was a good game in spite of being a completely different kind of game than 1 to 3. It still had some survival aspects but RE5 succeeded in removing the series from the survival genre and basically turned it into a 3D Contra game (complete with co-op). I still liked it enough to finish it. Mainly because of the plot and because it involved Chris, Jill, and Wesker which haven't been seen in a while.

Heh thanks for reminding me of the plot. Saw it when it first came out in the cinemas and didn't recall a thing initially. That's how forgettable of an experience it was. Utter garbage.
I like zombie themes. Unfortunately, the Resident Evil movies are no more about zombies than Superman is about common street thugs. The entire series is about superheroes and supervillains, good guys vs bad guys. Ironically enough, there's no world left to save though. But that's one thing that zombie movies have in common - they're all stupid and they suck. I wish somebody made a decent zombie movie one of these days.

As for the games, I agree with you on the basis that aren't necessarily bad as such. I suppose they are simply yet another step in the inevitable evolution of video gaming. The next series is bound to not only include even more action and spesshul powwas but also more thongs and bras!
