Soccorro: Nah it's not that bad. I actually like exploring. I can develop some patience and love biology. so i don't think it will be that hard to get into the game. It's just my orientation. Maps are something i need plenty of time for. but if the world is diverse and has a wildlife, i would actually love it i guess.
Funny thing is that biology is, in this game, a way to extend the exploration. It's the most meaningful way in which it can implement items, and so it does - in a very immersive and fun fashion. But don't expect much depth to it, altho flavour text is nice.

And that applies to everything, really - the bits and pieces of story you find here and there create a very nice picture of a fairly dark and interesting world that you have escaped, and a very interesting story of those who were on the island before you. If slowly uncovering the secrets of the island and the disease is something you'd find exciting, then this game is quite amazing. It's precisely what I was looking for in Miasmata and I got that in abundance.

But it's really not hard, nor is it very complex - when it comes to survival aspect, you only have to manage your 'fever' which basically works as health in the game and you have to drink - no hunting or any more advanced means of food acquisition.

As for the monster, it's not very well realized - you will feel threatened a couple of times when you encounter it, but then you will learn to outsmart it and it more or less stops being a threat. Not completely, but enough to get more annoying than interesting.

You're also talking about diverse world with a lot of wildlife - sadly, that's not really the case either. Well, the world is diverse enough, but wildlife is more or less non-existent. This kind of stuff is why I'm hoping the devs will do something similar with bigger budget now that they've made money on the project

Ok I'll buy it. I've had that Campfire "feeling" when the guy who played it found a tent in the night with a campfire. That was awesome. I'll love it up front, if there were torches in that game so you can run around in the dark with an unreliable light source and that "thing" behind you.

Oh yeah, somehow, the game nails that 'umph' you get when hiking. No clue how, but it just works. And one of my most memorable moments was when I wasn't careful, the night fell and I was walking around the forest with a bloody lighter, locating sticks I could use as torches as often as possible. I wasn't careful because I was looking for a certain plant, that I have then found, barely in the reach of my torch (those nights are DARK!) And, of course, the plant was in the water. So I've lost my source of light, exhausted myself by swimming to and from the plant, raising my fever (no medicine around, of course), buut, I got the plant! To survive tho, I needed to find a shelter to rest and improve my health. Long story short, when my character was barely gasping for air, I have stumbled off a cliff and nearly offed myself completely, lost the plant I was doing all that for, and when I got up and looked around ... A tent! I was lucky to survive that.

Well i got Miasmata and Outcast.... I don't really know what outcast is like but it looked cool.
If you want an RPG survival game, play Robinson's Requiem, if you want an adventure game with some survival elements, get Miasmata.

Outcast is basically StarGate: The Game. It's pretty great.

Don't know what that is but it sounds good. And so you can have torches in miasmata? Awesome.

I loved Stargate SG-1 back in the day, such a time it got really bad toward the end

Well it did have 10 seasons, was bound to get worse sooner or later. I think we're lucky it got worse later. And in the meantime, they've rolled Atlantis with its fantastic premise of exploring gigantic alien city ... That they've used properly in like 10 episodes.

Oh that Stargate...I never liked that series. I just couldn't watch it don't know why... Maybe because i have started trying to watch in the last few seasons.

Yeah I was also disappointed that exploring the city didn't play a bigger role.

Those space vampires got old fast for me in Stargate: Atlantis. They never had the appeal of the over the top enemies in the original series.

I did enjoy Atlantis though. It was enough like SG-1 for me to stick with it.
SG-1 went to hell with the Ori enemy (not sure what season it was), damn that shit was so so bad. I definitely think the series climaxed in that two-parter where Jack has the alien knowledge in his brain, uses it the find the Ancient Antarctic outpost and using it to destroy Anubis's fleet. I thought Atlantis was pretty solid all the way through tbh

Yeah The Ori wasn't a well thought out enemy. That story line felt to me like they came up with them to get a couple seasons more out of the series to milk more money. I rarely keep watching when that story line start when I do a rewatch of the series.
I think so far other people have probably already stated what Miasmata is like.
So instead of repeating everyone else, let me just say that Miasmata's been one of the most interesting games I've played this year (and that was in January!)

I need a break from Miasmata... I just run around, searching for nice flowers to pick. Suddenly i hear a heartbeat. I was like "It's my fever!" But nope after taking those mental pills, I saw some kind of white head in front of me, then my character turned his head to face that "thing" the face turned red and my eyes followed something that was running around like crazy searching for me... i turned around, paniced and ran into a house to save and quit...
