As you can see, retro gaming is becoming all the rage now, I think we'll soon have many kids telling us about thin cool game they discovered, but we probably didn't hear about it, it isn't mainstream ;)
What are your reasons for buying old games? Is it nostalgia? DO you want to play some game you didn't back in the old days and you know it's awesome? Some other reason?
For me there are several reasons. I grew up during eighties and nineties in Serbia, was one of the rare people to actually own a computer or even original games, there were no gaming shops and we got all are games pirated. I got my firs original game in 1988, it was SDI by Sega for commodore and I was impressed by the shiny package, manuals and stickers ;) and since then I managed to find and buy many of the games I played during my childhood because I always feel nostalgic while playing them, they always bring some hidden memory from my childhood, some moment i remember that happened while I was playing them.
Also, I want to have a collection of games to give to my son which is due to be born this june. I know he'll be a gamer, it's in his genes ;) Although I know he'll play whatever they will play in 10-15 years more, I want him to experience some of the classics that were there in my youth and see how the good old games were made ;)
Last reason is simple: almost no modern game feels worthy of money they ask for them, games transformed from works of art into mainstream (lol) media like movies and it's everything about special effects now, nobody cares about the story anymore :(
