Whitecroc: I'd love to see SotHR on GOG. Dark Omen was a blast, although a checkpoint system wouldn't've hurt.
Although isn't Shadow of the Horned Rat like three times as difficult?
Andy_Panthro: SOTHR is horrendously difficult, especially for a beginner. Using infantry, cavalry and archers is okay, but artillery, magic and flying units are exceedingly tricky (but very necessary).
Couple that with resource management (knowing which missions are worth your time, otherwise you won't be able to afford your mercenary upkeep).
I did have a good time reviewing it though, but it hasn't aged well. the 3D terrain is fine, but the 2D sprite units are blurry and the GUI is cumbersome and fills a large amount of screen space.
You could always check out my review on Abandonia, I won't link there... but it is featured
on MobyGames here.
I never got around to finishing this when it was new. Good game, though. Yes, the sprites were crappy, but they didn't really detract from the game. I'd probably get around to buying it soon after release on gog, if it ever showed up.
