sebarnolds: It would be nice to avoid promoting piracy. The game is available on Steam. That's not DRM-free and that's unfortunate, but let's avoid piracy please.

That too, they killed Troika, never forgive, never forget.
Look on eBay / Amazon and buy it on disc, closest thing you will get to DRM free, used good quality copies usually go for around £10. I believe it uses Securom but after everything is patched up use a nocd and you are good to go.

Good thing about the disc version is you can install all the community patches easily and will have it up and running in no time.

I got it on Steam, managed to install said patches then Steam seen a mismatch in the files and put it back to their newest build which doesn't work on 7 64 bit, my own fault as I forgot to uncheck the auto updater. Wish I never got rid of my disc version!
I did play this 6-7 years ago, but couldn't finish it because of bugs.
Maybe it's worth playing with patches but for me it was a bad experience

Stevedog13: Bloodlines was actually how I discovered DotEmu. I was looking for a DRM free copy but had never heard of the site. I spent a few days doing my research. Opened an account and downloaded a few of their free games to test just how DRM free they really were. Satisfied that DotEmu was a solid choice from witch to buy the game I pulled out my CC only to discover that the game was no longer available. I had literally missed it by one day.
Daaaammmmnnn! That's the kind of reasonable, cautious thing I would do as well. I empathise with you!

No, because most publishers will take that as a sign to use even more DRM, or offer games only as a service. Trying to pirate Diablo 3 is probably still more hassle than it's really worth.

It goes far beyond that. All major bugs have been fixed long ago (and you can still get the pure bug-fixing patch). But all 'patches' of the last years are more like mods or add-ons. Re-instating missions that were only planned but never implemented. Including more clans and making some rule-changes to make the game closer to the Pen&Paper RPG. And several new missions and clan-quests.
