Ah. I saw "Impulse must be installed in order to download software" in the description, and therefore assumed that Impulse must be installed in order to download software.

I know they'll never come to GOG and that's fine, I still have my discs :D
By the way: If you have a boxed copy of Half-life or Gunman Chronicles you can register it on steam, and by doing so you will get Half-Life, Opposing Forces, Blue Shift, Counter strike, Day of defeat, Team Fortress Classic, Deathmatch classic and Ricochet added to your steam account (but not Gunman Chronicles...)

Since the games still require Steam to run, I'm not particularly happy that another shop has started selling products that I'm not interested in.

I don't really see what the big deal is... so you can buy Steam keys for Valve games elsewhere. Why is this better than buying them directly from Steam?

Though given Impulse generally has terrible sales, buying them from Impulse will likely end up giving Valve more money.

Pigs fly, indeed. Out of nowhere. Obviously steam is still required.
What's next? Half-Life 3 surprise release on d2d, err gamefly.com?

I can't remember everything they changed, and there was a thread on Steam about this ages ago, but from what I remember.
The main menu's have all be downgraded from their original "cooler" versions.
Blue Shift's hud is yellow instead of blue.
They all have music bugs, and OpFor uses HL's music instead of its own.
The HD pack can break mods on Steam release.
Sounds are missing, including HECU marine phrases.
Among other things. I wish I could find the thread, it listed them all out and it was pretty interesting. Not saying the Steam one is bad but I prefer the "WON" version.
