Tormentfan: Torchlight definately (if I actually buy one of them at all).. D3 has far too much BS attached to it.
D2 is last I'll ever play anything of Blizzard..
TCMU2009: That;s so weird. Everywhere else I look-- IGN, Gametrailers, Game Informer, PC Gamer, etc.-- people are clamoring for Diablo 3. But here, on a classic pc games centered website, everyone is saying it looks like garbage. There's a statistical study in here somewhere...
You need to look listen to MC Frontalot's "Indier Than Thou" song, it explains this in great detail.
In all seriousness, though, the people on here played Diablo, they played Diablo 2 and all the other clones. They know the names of many of their favorite devs, etc. It's clear to many people like that that D3 has little resemblance to the games they actually loved other than the name. Also Blizzard hasn't exactly been making the most popular decisions with the game (RMT auction house, lack of LAN play, online requirement, etc.).
Metro09: Be lucky if Grim Dawn is released in 2014. I don't even think they have a 'playable' alpha yet that they've release to the pre-pre-pre order folks.
I'm still thinking of throwing down some cash to get my name in the credits if they ever do launch;)
jefequeso: Personally, I prefer Diablo II. It's harder, it's more atmospheric, and it's got online. But Torchlight is nowhere near a bad game.
When people talk about loving D2 for the atmosphere I have to admit I'm a bit nonplussed, Diablo had way, way more atmosphere to me. The music alone could give you nightmares.
