taczillabr: Who is the publisher for that? The only compilations I found here are the diablo or warcraft warchests... nothing including warcraft 2 bnet edition.
After looking at the box, it is our CD Projekt. Well Czech, actually, but it matters not, since all non-Polish branches were shut down a year or two ago, IIRC. This shop says they have more than 5 pieces remaining and unless some other publisher gets the rights, I guess no further such editions will appear.

Also only the texts on boxes/CD cases are translated, the games are in English.

Yeah that's what I imagined, Acti/Blizz hired someone back in the day and they just translated the box,cd,images.

Stock up on those remaining pieces then, in case you wish to re-sell. ;)

Buy them all
Sell for $50 per piece on eBay
???
Profit

Sounds good, but where to get the money for actually buying those boxes? :<
Think it depends on your taste in graphics. SInce you're on GOG I'm assuming you've got no issue with old graphics, which is what Diablo will give you. Torchlight of course is a shinnier and prettier game though, so if that's what you mean by not aging well, then I'd say go with Torchlight, or better yet, go with Titan Quest, you can usually find it for $5.

However, if you're talking gameplay, Diablo 2 can still hold a candle to each of the games I've mentioned. It does have a dark theme and setting to it, so if you're trying to stay away from that type of environment, definitely stay away from it.

But I recently bought Diablo 2 after having beaten both Torchlight and dropping 80 hrs into Titan Quest and it played just as I expected, even better in some parts since at like level 5 or 6 I already had an awesome AOE spell that smashed the dozens of enemies swarming me to puddles of blood. It is tough to look at the graphics, but they're not horrible by any stretch of the imagination. There's actually a demo for Diablo 2 on Fileplanet.com. If you've got anything higher than XP though, it won't work for squat, so if you've still got XP running, definitely give it a shot. If that doesn't work, I think there's a Sacred Gold demo on Fileplanet.com as well. The graphics in that game are nicer than in Diablo 2, but it'll give you an idea of what you'll get if you get Diablo 2.

Sacred Gold and Sacred 2 are also really good ARPG's. Unfortunately, there was just a sale on Sacred Gold, and Sacred 2 is rarely for sale, but both are really good. I've actually played more Sacred 2 than Diablo 2, Titan Quest and Torchlight combined, though that's because it's funny to see my girl characters running around in thongs, lol.

Man, $10 for Diablo 2? Pisses me off. I picked it up in August or September and paid $30 for the battle chest without Diablo 1 in it. My bad. Let me know if you have anymore questions. I was just in this decision on whether or not to give Diablo 2 a chance, so I'm sorta a good help for you.

Sinizine: I really don't get the earlier complaint about Torchlight being CLICK CLICK CLICK.

You are aware what genre we're talking about right? That's the arguement tools use to make fun of the entire genre, so it's a bit weird seeing it made about a specific game in the genre when discussing it.
Yeah, well I clarified why I think the way I do about it. I like ARPG's, I just didn't think torchlight was anything special and I don't understand why it gets the level of praise that it does. The story is crap/non existent, as is the music, the level design is repetitive and uninspired, and I just didn't find anything about it to fall in love with. It wasn't a terrible game, I think I paid around $3.50 for it, which is about what I think it's worth.

MonstaMunch: ...
Probably because people at first thought the game was done by indie developers (which is not the case). It was only good for the first hour.

Tormentfan: Torchlight definately (if I actually buy one of them at all).. D3 has far too much BS attached to it.

D2 is last I'll ever play anything of Blizzard..
That;s so weird. Everywhere else I look-- IGN, Gametrailers, Game Informer, PC Gamer, etc.-- people are clamoring for Diablo 3. But here, on a classic pc games centered website, everyone is saying it looks like garbage. There's a statistical study in here somewhere...

Is this a game?... or some kind of foreboding prophecy?

Grim Dawn is an upcoming ARPG, developed by some of the people who made Titan Quest, using an improved version of the Titan Quest engine. Looks promising, can be pre-ordered on their homepage, but is still pre-beta as of now.

Reading about it now. Thanks!
Personally, I prefer Diablo II. It's harder, it's more atmospheric, and it's got online. But Torchlight is nowhere near a bad game.
Be lucky if Grim Dawn is released in 2014. I don't even think they have a 'playable' alpha yet that they've release to the pre-pre-pre order folks.

so sad that no one knows of Grim Dawn..... Crate has been churning out quality shots concepts and working hand in hand with the community to make the definitive dark dungeon crawler...

Grim Dawn is my first pick but out of T2 or D3.... its T2 no questions, they have better system, there fully random gen except the overworld towns and its designed like D2 was and i already know the formula was fun and amazing.... plus default support for mods unlike D3 which you cant even use singleplayer mods or cheats or anything...

D3 is crap, over 7 core elements axed so it can be "released" in a timely manner (thanksactivision) so what ever.... T2 all the way!

You need to look listen to MC Frontalot's "Indier Than Thou" song, it explains this in great detail.

In all seriousness, though, the people on here played Diablo, they played Diablo 2 and all the other clones. They know the names of many of their favorite devs, etc. It's clear to many people like that that D3 has little resemblance to the games they actually loved other than the name. Also Blizzard hasn't exactly been making the most popular decisions with the game (RMT auction house, lack of LAN play, online requirement, etc.).

I'm still thinking of throwing down some cash to get my name in the credits if they ever do launch;)

When people talk about loving D2 for the atmosphere I have to admit I'm a bit nonplussed, Diablo had way, way more atmosphere to me. The music alone could give you nightmares.
